I entered my first contest ( www.deviantart.com/warriorsgoi… ) and decided to use it as an opportunity to try something completely new. As you can see, I went for a more stylized look and I played around with colors, filters, brushes… Overall I had a lot of fun doing this. Even though it's not perfect, it's the best I can do.
So, why this scene?
We are at the end of book two, Fire and Ice. Windclan returned in his territory but is still weakened as Riverclan and Shadowclan attack them… united. Windclan asks Thunderclan for help, and Bluestar sends a patrol to help Windclan defend his territory. Fireheart fights bravely, but as he gets attacked by Leopardfur, he stands no chance. The Riverclan deputy pushes him to he ground and scratches him, until the young warrior bleeds heavily. Fireheart sees Tigerclaw and looks to him. His voice desperate as he screams: „Tigerclaw! Help me!“ But the warrior just continues watching with a fixed look, as Fireheart nearly gets torn apart.
There it is. Up to this moment we only had the word of a scared apprentice and some loose guesses. But now we, and Fireheart can be absolutely sure that Tigerclaw is the villain. He killed Redtail, he will bring Thunderclan into chaos, if no one does something. With this simple scene, Firehearts whole life changes. He knows that his enemy does not hesitate to kill, or to let cats die. With this scene we first see Tigerclaw in action. We experience what he is capable of and know, that Thunderclan is in grave danger.
That’s the reason chose to draw this scene. Please excuse my bad english. I hope the entry is okay the way it is.
