Description
       Evann cautiously gathered his equipment together, watching his unexpected rescuer closely.  "I've embedded a code fragment in the program that is governing the device broadcasting the signal that's drawing the bulk of the main forces away from here and linked that fragment to your comms unit.  Once that signal is switched off, you will be alerted and I warn you:  you will not have much time before they realize you've escaped," Mireya hurriedly explained as she adjusted the communication device on his ear, "You must be swift.  I cannot stress that enough, Evann."
       "Wait, I don't understand."  Evann finally spoke, breaking his bewildered silence, "I've been your enemy from the beginning.  You said that yourself.  You tried to kill me more times than I can count."
       "I know."  She replied, scrambling to secure the device to him.
       "If your master knew you were even involved in this… especially if he knew you were directly responsible…"
       "I know…"  She mused, her back turned to him as she took his sword in her hands.
       "Mireya, he'll—"
       "I know!"  Mireya snapped back louder than she intended.  She did not need to be reminded of the consequences of her actions, "My life is forfeit for this… but that doesn't matter now.  You must leave this place."
       His old enemy's words echoed in Evann's mind as the silence between them, broken only by the occasional rustling of the cloth as Mireya wrapped the material around the sheath of his blade, grew with each passing moment.  "Just…"  He spoke, the tension between them becoming too much for him to stand, "this is crazy and you know it.  At least, tell me why you're doing this…"
       Mireya stopped, Evann's sword firmly held in her arms.  "I suppose…"  Her voice trailed as her mind began to reach back into the past to claim the memory that led her to her present actions.  "Let's just say you spared my life a few times.  This will make us even, don't you think?"
       "Mireya…"  Evann struggled to find the words to counter the blow he received. "I'm sorry.  I still don't understand.  When did I—" His words were cut off suddenly as he felt the full weight of his weapon, wrapped in a heavy black cloth, impact heavily against his chest.
       "Stop it," she smirked, "you do not have time to think about these things, understand?  Just get out of here.  I've done everything I can, but even with my help, escaping will not be an easy task."
       Evann took his sword and reluctantly started toward the passage out of his cell.  Suddenly, a thought occurred to him so powerful that it froze him in his tracks as though physically impeded by some invisible force.  Mireya glared at him, increasingly frustrated by his delay, and started to make her way toward him. "You fool!!" she growled out in irritation, "Did you not hear a word that I just said?!  I cannot guarantee that you'll get out of this place unless you leave immediately!"  She moved upon him swiftly, fully prepared to push him through the doorway.  "What is it now?!"  The frustration in her eyes quickly turned to surprise when, as if in immediate response, he quickly turned around and took her by the hand.  Looking into his face, she noticed for the first time a light in Evann's eyes, now widened with an excitement she had never seen in him.
       "Come with me," was the only explanation he offered.
