Description
Deep-Ones are maybe my favorite lovecraftian creation and "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" is surely one of my favorite lovecraftian tales, so it's no surprise I periodically come back to this classic theme trying to find other way to depict the corrupted people of Innsmouth. Anyway, who is the figment of who's imagination in this work? The answer is up to you. This picture will be the cover of the upcoming number 14 of "Studi Lovecraftiani". studilovecraftiani.blogspot.itβ¦Related content

Superb, I particularly like the never-ending rows of teeth!

I did a fan-fic at my height, which had a deliberately ambiguous title. THE THIRD LIFE FORM.
Casper (ghost) and Wendy (human, albeit a witch) meet AstroBoy (robot) and, together, investigate...
The "third" life-form could be Astroboy,
OR
it could be Casper,a ghost being strange - new to Astroboy.
I am no longer up to such literary peaks, despite THE RETURN OF BARTELBY (see AlexReynard in InkBunny).

May be he's frightened from seeing the reflection of a strange, white face of a... human, it's called?

Thank you so much, Peter! It was a kind of experiment to me, so I'm glad you think it works.

Whoah... Matteo in full color!!Β This is a really nice piece, I particularly like the variety of textures, as it really helps add to the real feeling it gives.Β I, too, often feel the lure of Father Dagon and return to explore the rich source of imagery.Β I wonder if, in part, that story is so effective because seemingly anyone of us could discover that they have this lineage and fate laid out for them- but the flip side to the horror of the transformation is that we could be immortal and discover secrets not meant for man.

At least one, aΒ relative of the narrator of SHADOW OVER INNSMOUTH, shot himself before the Change could start, dying human.
Becoming a cannibal monster ,hardly an acceptable Β price to pay....

Thanks a lot, Paul! I'm very glad you like it. I think you are right about "The Shadow Over Innsmouth". I think it is also a very intriguing tale due to the final change of perspective: what is described as horrifying in the first part of the story becomes fascinating in the last. There is some kind of poetry and something similar to a promise of Eden despite the initial sense of dread that stunned me when I first read this tale many years ago.
