...to find just one true thing.Most of the sketchbooks / books / art clutter / empty trash was done straight in pen. This is a little less clean than most of my inkwork, but I think it evokes a different kind of feeling that I think was necessary for this particular piece.
Materials: ink, ink, ink.

I wandered by your booth at Otakon, only you were not there. And the booth said "Yo" a lot, but it didn't tell me if you were selling prints of this picture. So I picked up a card, because if you *were* selling prints of it, I would totally buy one.

Wow...do you do this without pencil sketching first? If so, I am incredibly in awe of you. I have so much trouble with pen; I have to sketch EVERYTHING out before I work with it, or it comes out horrendously.
It's lovely. I love the smooth henna-esque patterns rising up above the scene, the way they contrast with the shading style in the lower part of the picture. The way the one lowest one follows the curve of her body is perfect too. And all the books must have been so time consuming (*is horribly, shamelessly lazy when it comes to backgrounds/scenery* I tend to do a central figure, then get frustrated & do a simple, abstract background.) I adore the detail you put into this!

For this piece in particular, I penciled out the basic outline of the books / objects in the room as well as the figure of the girl and the "crazy comin' out" the top, so to speak. I did most of the book / object detail just with pen, because it would take, really, far too long to do it all in pencil and then go over it all again.
