Description
Last of three requests for dirtminer6 on the Minecraft Forums. This was for a dual suggestion for a new environment and a mob to go with it - a peaceful aquatic mob this time, entirely of his own creation. Mojang can come up with Creepers, Ghasts, and Blazes as hostiles, so why not an original peaceful mob instead of an existing animal? It could go a long way towards making the world of Minecraft more unique. I'll leave the biome he suggested to someone who can make those things, though. I'm more of a mob modeler than someone who plays with blocks.

Squirts spawn naturally in the ocean, especially around coral islands, though you may find one swimming up a river every once in a while. They get their name because when they surface to breathe, they squirt a stream of water (in particles like rain) about ten blocks high, making them easy to locate. As fish-eaters, they can be bred with raw or cooked fish, and if you can contain them they're easy to farm, like sheep, pigs, and cows. They are slaughtered for their blubber, a valuable resource, but they rarely also drop fishing rods that have very low remaining durability. When fighting a Squirt, it will try to flee, just like any other passive mob.

Blubber
Squirts need their blubber to protect them from the cold sea water. Should you skin a Squirt and cut out its blubber, you'll find that it does not come in blocks and cannot be placed, but you CAN craft it with your armour to repair it and renew 3% of its durability. Just try to ignore the smell afterwards, though!
