Description
I can't believe, I didn't add my Nikko pictures. I'm sorry, here they come! This is a picture of famous Kegon-Waterfall. Why is Kegon-waterfall famous? It's not only one of Japan's three most beautiful waterfalls, but also a famous suicide spot. Since the suicide of Fujimura Misao in 1903, around 200 (mainly young) people tried to end their lifes at Kegon-Waterfall during the next 8 years.
In the middle of the tunnel, which leads down to the Kegon-Waterfall plattform, is also a little shrine for the souls of people, who committed suicide there.
Kegon-waterfalls is one of the "famous suicide spots" (自殺の名所) in Japan.

So sad that it has such a bad reputation
It's a very nice place though. Reminds me of the Drakensberg, although I don't recall seeing waterfalls of this size there.

yeah, somehow it's really sad. but all those 'famous suicide spots' in Japan are really really beautiful!
maybe Japanese people tend to think "omfg! that place is so beautiful I want to die"?
best thing is the japanese wiki entry for kegon-waterfall as 'famous suicide spot' in Japan. the pictures shows the waterfall and a rainbow! wtf?!

Strange. And weird. And freaky.
But then, that describes Japan. In a good way
