HERE IS THE FULL COLOR PRINT THAT WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE SHOW BY ME -CALLING ALL ROBOTS : A temporary pop up art installation celebrating the Robot in 2D, 3D art as well as pop culture. A free entry event and chance to support Elgin's got robot? team's trip to St. Louis to compete internationally this coming April
DESCRIPTION : April 5th will be a one night only reception to view the temporary art installation in the new Artspace Lofts commercial space on the corner of Spring and Fulton. The event will not otherwise be open after this weekend but rather will serve to promote the availability of the space for a future retail tenant.
The evening will be chance to view the 2D and 3D art of local, area, national and international artists celebrating - the Robot.
The exhibit also includes a demonstration by Got Robot, Elgin's Robotics club who will be attending the first ever world wide competition in St. Louis in late April (one of only 128 groups chosen out of over 2500 worldwide entries!)
We'll also have a variety of Robot toys on hand, curated to show the influence of the Robot in popular culture and entertainment.

As well an Xmen Sentinel and Rusty the Boy Robot. My love for various robots spans from the 60's to the present and I wanted to to try and get a good mixture in there

Ah my childhood lives! So many oldies but goodies. One thing though, Rom the Space knight is a cyborg not a robot.

I know but I wanted to put him in there because I love the character. I most likely will but other cyborg like characters in the final pic because it's fun and cool. I try never to impose rules unless it deals with a client and a work situation. If I have free reign, I'm going to play in the playground LOL

I feel ya, I was crushed when Marvel lost the rights to publish Rom. He was one of my all time favorite Marvel Heroes and I wish they could work out a deal to bring him back. The property is just sitting there not doing anyone any good in limbo like that.

Hmmm maybe it can be reprinted as a Marvel Essentials tpb like they did with Godzilla. I'll have to put that out there on the Marvel Comics forums and get some support going.

Hey EB, the funny thing is that this piece isn't completed. The actual size of the original artwork is 14x17 but the people at the show wanted to do the prints 11x17. So I actually had to photoshop the background art and cut paste Rusty the boy Robot and shrink him to fit into the 11x17 template. There's going to be a bunch of random robots from various genres that I plan to add to the final piece- When I get the chance to work on it

Very very cool. I have been meaning to do a similar piece like this. Cept only with Japanese liveaction robots mostly, and Gypsy from Mystery Science Theater 3000. I have a sketch done so far but there are a few robots I am not happy with. Red Baron, Mach Baron, Giant Robo (from the Johny Sokko series), Daitetsujin 17, Gigantor, Mazinger Z (I know they are anime). And Jumborg Ace and Jumborg 9 from Jumborg Ace the series. Cept I can't get Ace's head too look right. Grr. It just has that odd shape.
