Description [ The image is self-explanatory, but you can read the description too. Iwouldlikethat. ]

Something I've got to solve tonight, figuring out the right (imo) anatomy after much efforts... And felt like it would be worth sharing it here, in a step-by-step sequence, to show how this kind of improvised drawings can happen.

So yes, it only started as a lonely knee, there, because I sometimes enjoy drawing legs in less obvious angles and PoV's (1) .... But then, you see, when that silly initial part was done, I couldn't help my challenge-obsessive mind from thinking further into the problem, and so got myself into the task of solving the rest of her body in a most relaxed and natural way... By now, most of you know that I like my ladies' postures to look natural. And that can often be quite difficult. Anyway (2) was done, too. And I was going to just clean it up, and drop it there, telling myself it was enough of that.... but... wait, what if (3)? .... then (4) and (5).... So gentle looking, wahhhhhh. Β΄///`

haha... so, yeah, I'm glad I ever had this compulsive kind of feeling with me, this need, to bring each of my sketches to a completion, to see what are they hiding. Feels like I can bring unsuspected little characters to life, even if only for a brief instant, for one only drawing, one solely glance. Like an unlooked for visitor. : )

Yeaahh.... I've been in a very unusual mood lately.
Anyway, thanks for reading, if you did.

Oh, hey and no, my little friends and occasional visitors, this is not a base, or anything like that. Actually, I think I'll finish this drawing tomorrow -into some decent level of finishing-ness, at least.

Hey! Sorry for the late reply.

Um... is self-taught, honestly, so it's been only a matter of practicing, over time. ^^ The only advice I can give about it, is to keep drawing!

No problem )

It makes me feel better in some way, it means I've only to draw. So the only thing you do is to draw roght? Do you do some types of exercises? Like "a page" of legs etc?

That's interesting, I've never seen anyone draw a person legs first, dose it make the pose any easier to draw?

It does for me, in some cases, like this one. It helps by giving a better idea of how the weight of the body is going to be balanced. Which is a critical point for an accurate anatomy.

Your stuff always leave me marveling. @A@
I envy the way you can color, do PoVs, expressions, AND EVERYTHING ELSE. @.@
Hope to see more of these. You inspire me. Hoho.
Question though: how long did getting to #5 take you?

feguimel In reply to gnorn [2013-01-30 12:10:09 +0000 UTC]

Ah, um... No, I don't really remember. But it usually takes me long. I draw my poses at very slow pace, trying different things in the way. ^^

This was really useful, thank you for sharing!

I also start a lot with leg studies but always stumble on the torso-ass-leg part, I think that this will help me improve on connecting the torso and the legs in the near future, lol!~~

I am really sorry that I used this as a reference without asking, I hope it's okay, if it's not I will take away the two drawings I did use it for. I just loved the way you drawed it >3< ! I had a hard time drawing the one who were supposted to be sitting so then I remembered I fav. This a while ago >3< [link]

feguimel In reply to NekoArtDrawer [2012-11-15 12:22:13 +0000 UTC]

In these cases what you're supposed to do is including a link to the reference image, explaining you traced/used it in the making of your drawing. That way you will save yourself from some people raging at you...
I do not forget the fact that I explicitly said that this was not to be used as base/reference that way. - w -;; But I won't rage now... Move on.

Peace~

I have to say that I seen other artist draw the body out as a bean, or start with the head. However, this is the first time that I have seen anyone start out with the legs first then work their way up. This is a unique approach to drawing out the figure!

This approach looks like a good way to stabilize the pose as well.
