WARNING: BIG FILE AHEAD. CLICK DOWNLOAD TO FULL VIEW So from time to time I've stumbled upon "Skyward Sword" fanart where the Link depicted is Twilight Princess Link, instead of Skyward Sword Link. :l;;; ... and it just kind of looks really strange in most instances.
I know they look really similar right off the bat, but TP and SS Link have their differences; subtle, but they ARE there, and they do make a difference in your pictures. There's more to SS Link than JUST the poofy pants and right-handedness, and that's why I made this comparative chart. There's probably a few other things I didn't write, but these are the most noticeable differences between the two Links.
The tunic colors are an approximate and our opinions may differ Here's a color reference for the tunic colors, if you need it so you can see the differences.

I hope it can eventually help others as a reference when doing their fanart, or even cosplay, 'cause yeah, despite some design similarities, TP and SS Link are actually really different. Even their shields have slight differences, can you spot them? :3

This reference is not here to prove how one design is better than the other or to make people choose who their favorites are. It's here to help people drawing SSLink to know the differences in their designs so they don't draw TP erroneously all the time. >_>;;;

Hmm, it seems odd that they have lots of texture in the concept art, but not in-game. :T It seems so much odder when you line them up next to the TP ones which are dead-on.
But, midna had blue in her hair.. arm.. thing at first, so maybe they'll change it up a bit later on as well.
;D Maybe the focus on the poofy pants is because fans have always been like "omg he has no pants" (was going to link to that awkward zombie strip about that, but it... GASP, can't be found by googling.) Never the less, I think this ref should help bring other aspects into the spotlight. <3

I think the right-handeness is because when doing the demonstrations they used the wii-mote on the right hand

Personally I think that they easily could've kept the TP style. They probably would get more supporters, too. Rather than stepping forward in quality, it looks like they took a step back.
While I'm not against WW, and I have to admit I quite love it, it's not something you can mix with TP style successfully, in my opinion.
I wonder what it would be like if they did OoT in WW style? XDD

But I hate that people trip out so bad over the small differences, and for the record, he's not right-handed. They're just using that for the advertisement. I heard last year Nintendo said that in this next one for the Wii, that you'd be able to choose from left or right handed.
But really, I don't get why people are making such a big fuckin' deal over right-handed vs left haned, blond vs brown. They're all idiots the way I see it. They're just small details. The color of his hair always depend on the style of the game. Games for the younger kids normally have him blond, same with Zelda, and in the more serious games, she's a brunette, and he's got brown hair. The right-handed vs left-handed is an option now according to Nintendo, but they are displaying with the right-handed Link right now just cause that's the general default since most people in the world are right-handed, but really, who give's a fuck if he's right-handed or left-handed in the game, and who cares what his hair color is? The people that piss and moan about that just piss me off.

Nope, actually Eiji Aonuma confirmed after E3 that there is no left option in the game and gave a reason why. Link is right handed, both ingame and in the official artwork. But I agree, personally I don't see why it's such a big deal, every other Link is left handed, one right handed Link shouldn't kill them.

I intend to Cosplay SS Link next year and I've almost got all the details down, and I think it's a shame the ONLY differences people see are the pants (sometimes the hand he uses, if you're lucky)

I like how you did this, I can see small differences on the shield, I couldn't notice them too much when the picture of Link in Skyward Sword was smaller so I had already thought that it may have looked the same as the one in Twilight Princess, but seeing how you put a good picture of Link from the game and the artwork for these two games, I'm able to see it. I don't know why but I have a feeling that they might make Link's hat alittle longer in the final version of the game. If not then I'm good with this too.

Yeah at first glance when watching the EA trailer I thought they just changed his pants and made him more chromatic- But as more reference and trailers were released I could tell that they changed just about everything on him (only the changes weren't huge but they were changes nonetheless)

SS Link just seems... floppy, while TP Link is very well put together. That's the only reason I prefer the TP design, it's more accurate and believable. There's no way SS Link's 'armour' could deflect arrows, what with the overly large rings (TP Link's 'armour' is more likely to catch the arrows before they pierce him). Not to mention SS Link looks squat and somehow oddly out of proportion.

TP Link's chainmail doesn't look gold to me. Gold's a pretty awful material to make armor out of, anyway; it's too soft and heavy. Most of the right/left differences are nullified by the Wii version of TP, too, though I tend to consider the GCN version as the proper one (more right-handed Link? Hissss.).
SS Link's boots don't come up as high, he's a little scrawnier, and his face is a little rounder and his eyes a little wider.
I am loving the art style for this game. <33 More cel-shading, less textures. I'mma have to do some fanarts soon. :3

Oh I know gold isnt an actualy good material(I tried to make a chainmail once lol) It's steel or aluminum with gold paint or yellow paint or whatever (forgot terminology, sorry!), but people identify better with the words "gold and silver" for color (I didnt mean material), so I tried not to get too technical with the color/materials >_>;;;
And well with this comparative chart i assumed people would understand that Im not taking the Wii version of TP into account since both official artwork, Brawl design, and gamecube game, he;s left handed. Wii!TP is just a port and shouldn't be taken into account when trying to draw TP Link. ( at least when people are serious about accuracy)
And he IS scrawnier xD! I cant believe it when Nintendo says he's the oldest Link yet XDD he just doesn't look it xDD

Link always goes through a design change in every game it seems. In the very first few games he had red-brown hair (although in the cartoon it was a much darker shade of brown) instead of blonde. But one thing that generally remain the same is his pointy hat and tunic which is always some shade of green (except in cases where you had special items on of course). Maybe one day should gather up the official art from the games and line them up so you can see the different designs he's had over the years.

De hecho, las combinaciones que tiene SS Link son mΓ‘s hacia el verde-plateado mientras que TP Link va al verde-dorado.
Eso si, no puedo dejar de notar que el largo de la espada de SS es equivalente a la altura de Link al hombro X_x y sostenerla con una sola mano... gosh! Esa mano estΓ‘ strained a mΓ‘s no poder y se nota en la postura de la muΓ±eca, ORZ
En el escudo parece que el aguila estΓ‘ mΓ‘s basada en el modelo de OoT ( Γ³ WW), especialmente las patitas

Eso si, hubo unos amigos que intentaron sostener una espada del tamanio de la mastersword comparandolo con la altura de link y dijeron que era imposible xDDDD y dijeron que Link era un troll gary stu (bromeando xD) y seh yo digo que su munieca ya hizo puff.
Y sip, el aguila es diferente y la parte superior del escudo la parte plateada) tambien tiene otro disenio :3
