Description
Well, this just sort of happened. It’s another Kim Possible at the Movies pic, inspired by the competition ofNow, this is the fourth such picture I make, and I begin to feel a bit embarrassed. It almost seems like I’m trying to swamp the competition by sheer numbers. Perhaps this had better go into the Guest Entries section.
Well, anyway, this is Kim & Co. in a remake of the 1965 film Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines, or How I Flew from London to Paris in 25 Hours 11 Minutes.
Kim plays the daughter of Lord Rawnsley, the rich newspaper magnate who organizes an air race between London and Paris. Ron plays her love interest, Orvil Newton, an American contestant. Drakken plays the role of the cheating, sabotaging scoundrel, Sir Percival Armitage-Ware, and Shego is his side-kick Courtney.
There is a sequence where Orvil/Ron takes Patricia Rawnsley for a trip in his plane. A wing-strut breaks, and Orvil has to mend it using his belt. His trousers promptly fall off. A perfect scene for Kim and Ron!
Also, the main villain is a perfect part for Dr. Drakken. All his ingenious and evil plans fail ignominiously. His badly treated manservant Courtney enjoys all the failures enormously.
The original film was full of talented actors. Sir Percy is played British comedian Terry-Thomas, who specialised in portraying stupid upper-class twits with his scraggly moustache and the noticeable gap between his front teeth. Courtney is played by Eric Sykes, the fireman at the airfield is Benny Hill, and Lord Rawnsley is Robert Morley. The poor German officer is played by Gert Fröbe, who might be easier connected with his role as Goldfinger in the Bond movie.
There were a number of flying replicas of vintage aircraft made for the movie. Orvil/Ron flies something that is called a Phoenix Flyer, probably meant to look like a Curtiss, but which was in reality a Bristol Boxkite. The dastardly Sir Percy flies an Avro Triplane.
As I said in my comments to my earlier deviation showing Dr. D and Shego in The Great Race, this was about the funniest I had ever seen when it came to theaters in Stockholm when I was a kid. After seeing it, I made drawings of strange airplanes for months, totally obsessed.
Kim, Ron, Drakken and Shego are © Disney, created by Schooley and McCorkle and designed by Stephen Silver. TMMitFM is a 20th Century Fox film directed by Ken Anakin in 1965, and starring Stuart Whitman, Sarah Miles, Terry-Thomas, Robert Morley, James Fox, Gert Fröbe, Eric Sykes, Red Skelton, Benny Hill, John Le Mesurier and many others.

Sir Percy won't be grinning much after he winds up in the sewage-farm.

Thanks! Well, I saw it in the sixties, and again just a few years ago when I bought the VHS. To my relief, it was still funny!

Thanks! Me, too, I'd rather watch them than ride them.
And, well, at least here, Ron had a heroic reason to lose his pants, in order to make a mid-air repair on the Boxkite..

Thanks! I thought a bit about having Prof. Dementor play Fröbe's character, but he doesn't really fit so well...

I'm actually a bit surprised how well suited Drakken was for getting a bit of Terry-Thomas make-over!
Yeah, just across the Baltic. Among the deviantArtists with a soft spot for Kim P, I've founda few from Norway and Denmark, too. Nobody from Iceland, yet, that I've noticed...

And the smile on Drakkens face fits so perfect Terry-Thomas.
