Looks like it was used as a machine gun target.

I know, it could take a while for it to be restored

To be restored?? Whoa. Patching all those holes ... and giving the armor its' former strength?

Yeah restoration will obviously take a VERY long time

Aye.
Well, at least, with the current condition, the ventilation is much better. Right?

Are they actually planning to fix it up? You know, I was at our local Air Force museum at a briefing this morning, and the OC was telling me how much of a business this is turning into, repairing old aircraft, but also tanks, cars, whatever. I mean, people go as far as machining the spare parts and reverse engineering if need be. Wow!
So good luck on your Lee/Grant!

I don't know who owns this Lee/Grant tank but it deserves the restoration

It is an M# Grant tank used in WW2 by the British so it is VERY likely that it was used by Monty at some point. Any more information on it?

Unfortunately I didn't get more info and somebody else commented saying about Montgomery using this tank tooΒ

its a crying shame to see tanks in this condition, i mean i know they've been in wars and such but thay have got to take better care of stuff like this so a piece of history doesn't rust away foreverΒ

FFDP-Guy In reply to CPUIceHeart [2014-07-18 17:53:57 +0000 UTC]
That's true but it's unknown how it can be restored unless if they gave it completely new parts and thanks for the Β too

It received a huge/many canister shot, or...?
(by the way, it's a M3 Grant, with the british turret)

I thought it had to be one of them and it looks like it's been shot at a load of times
