This is absolutely gorgeous. I've shot the Alps from a plane before but it never turned out anywhere near as spectacular as this. Fabulous work.

Truely breathtaking , reminds me of my Eragon books by Christopher Paolini , can just imagine a dragon circling and diving through the clouds, Really beautiful

Just fantastic - never have I seen such a clear shot from a plane! I flew into Milan over the christmas period and the views are spectacular.

May I ask you how to get sunrays so clear on a photo!?

ffmdotcom In reply to oO-Rein-Oo [2011-02-14 15:55:09 +0000 UTC]
i guess it was because:
a. the sun was setting already (means lots of dark shadow areas and lots of bright areas)
b. the weather condition were kind of hazy
c. the perspective was just great

Oh I guess those are just the right conditions... Thanks for sharing. There is something else I would like to ask: Is there any editing technique to make those sunrays more proeminent, like HDR? Did you process this shot in HDR?

Yepp...I'm flyin a lot (due to work) but I've hardly seen anything similar on my flights!
In terms of editing this picture was recorded with a Canon 5D MK2, Canon 17-40mm 4L Lens, recorded in RAW and converted in Lightroom (with some modifications to increase the details in the dark areas...so basically some contrast and color tweaking...but not a lot).
