Heee. This jollin was actually finished a loooong time ago. Well, a few months anyway xD I had drawn the sketch whilst I was developing the pet, I just had this idea in my head of this leaping fox with the most gleeful expression on its face. Glee fursonified! I was happy with the result, anyway n__nI expected some people would wonder why there wasn't a rainbow on this pet - but we do already have a few very popular pets on subeta without rainbows. The kerubi and feli come to mind! Plus adding in a rainbow would have mean killing me with pixellation issues when converting it to .gif. It was enough trouble just like this! I kind of like it minus rainbow.

I'm also one who prefers Spectrum pets without the rainbows in most instances, they can be very distracting from the pet itself.
Which definitely wouldn't have suited this Jollin - its got so many wonderful little details all on its own.
...but something else I noticed in looking at this... Jollins only have three toes. Ruffies only have three toes.Telenines, Kumos, Montres, Keetos and basically every remotely canine species on Subeta only have three toes. Is it a stylistic thing? It makes me wonder if there's any specific reason why almost all species with paws have that number of toes.

I suppose it is? It's like drawing humans with only three fingers and a thumb (like on the simpsons!) it's just easier and looks better on a cartoon? It even kind of makes things more cartoony for me. It's not something I've done not realising the amount of toes the pet's earth equivalent has or anything! It is weird though. I don't know why I didn't give the jollin four toes - it's not like I didn't intentionally make it less cartoony to begin with!
I think it just translates well to the smaller canvas when a pet has smallish feet to begin with. The detail of four toes is kind of lost?

It kind of suits one of my pets, but I'd need to give recolour it into the colours of a red fox...and then remove the tail. Painful to edit my own pets XD

I added a rainbow to my Spectrum Donadak's image when I made his overlay. So they don't have one either hehe.
