The steel itself is not that strong, 1.2mm thick/18 gauge mild steel. However, due to the flaring, where I hammered about a centimetre of the steel at the edge into a right angle, it is far more structurally sound. Just as much, it is more dent resistant because of the curve.

You did a great job with the shaping. They came out really nice. I can't wait to see them complete. I really like it when you show us the work in progress. It really lets us see how much work you really put into your work. Maybe a before and after shot.

If they follow you they will see the difference. WIP is an advantage and a privilege to see. We get to watch you develop your skills. Which to me is really the exciting part. Makes me appreciate the work you do more.

Thanks! So far I have just used the snips to cut them out, a very thick cardboard tube to bend it around, and a hammer and a wooden block to flare the edges.
I still have to file the edges, drill the rivet holes, blacken the plates and then assemble them.
