Well, look on the bright side; we got a bunch of new characters designed by Lauren Faust we all love and respect. Heck, merely the fact she`s a part of a fanproject is cool! I also doubt they would`ve ever used, let alone get for free, Z-Engine if it wasn`t for the fact they were forced to shut down their original project. Surely they would`ve done great job, anyways, but now that there are clearly fewer characters, they don`t have to, nor even could worry about including as many of them as possible in the future (at least there doesn`t exist a whole bunch of characters that fans expects to see)! Without mobs, that is, which btw might make it possible to play as ponies as well in the new game, since they stick with four-legged animals! Not everyone will appreciate/care about it, but at least I like a thought that every character and the whole story of the game are designed and created solely for that purpose. And even if the game itself is not pony-contect, we get to see whole new world created by Lauren Faust (with no copyright law problems whatsoever), which brings all new contect and possibilities along with MLP/FiM crossovers!
With all that said, I`m convinced that things are better this way!
