Description

This here’s a render I made in 2014, just when I started tinkering with rendering my scenes (Before, I was just cutting screenshots of the viewport). Clearly, the technology for lighting and posing play the biggest role in setting the before and after apart.


Key differences:


Lighting is much more advanced and photorealistic

Pose has higher levels of detail and models were used for anatomical reference

Hands and spine look like they’re (realistically) acting against gravity

The face has an actual expression on it, not just a blank doll stare

The parts of the body do not exceed their anatomical range, even when contorted. This helps keep the pose grounded in reality.

Honestly, in all my years doing this, I found that -that- was what made using Daz so fulfilling. It's not just a purely visual product. I like to tap into the "humanity" that the characters have as well.

Wow! You've really gotten better! I love Katya's updated posing especially. Do you use any special morphs for the body? I dabbled a bit with 3d(Daz3d), but could never get those beautiful folds on the body.

The body and character are all custom shaped and adjusted by myself, but the posework is what influences the folds, like on her back. A good result can be achieved through diligent pose referencing (using models and photo references) and patience when making the pose and you should get awesome results too!
