Something that is immediately obvious upon meeting Mothlight is that she is very maternal and caring in nature, treating any cat younger than her like a little sibling of sorts. Most of the time, she seems like a very serious cat as well, not really taking the time to enjoy the little things in life when she has a job to do. But in reality, when she is by herself she actually has a deep respect for nature, and is very religious when it comes to the spirits of StarClan, frequently praying to them even though she is just another warrior of MistClan. She maybe show this side to others when she trusts them enough, but she has a hard time opening up, both because of what happened between her and her siblings moons ago and also because of her tendencies to act aloof at times and also to speak without thinking. When she does open up to someone, it's easy to see that she's actually much more air-headed than she leads others to believe. And when it comes to anything bad happening to either of her half-siblings, she becomes extremely emotional and violent toward whatever (or whoever) is trying to hurt them.

- Born to Earthflower and Copperpelt.
- While she is still too young to understand, Copperpelt betrays MistClan for the Claws, being manipulated by them into thinking that Clan life was the cause for all his hardships.
- After the battle, he disappears, and is believed to have died by Earthflower and the other warriors of MistClan.
- Earthflower decides to never tell Mothkit the truth of her father.
- Mothkit becomes Mothpaw, she and her mother fight over her not telling her about her father but for the most part they have a good relationship.
- Partway through her training, Mothpaw notices Earthflower becoming close to another warrior in the Clan, a tom named Cloudspeckle.
- At first, she's a bit resentful, closing herself off to Cloudspeckle's attempts to be a father to her.
- Earthflower comes to Mothpaw to talk things through with her, insisting that she doesn't want to know what her father did and not knowing who he was would be better for her.
- Seeing how serious she is, Mothpaw realizes that there must be truth to her words, but still has thoughts about it in the back of her mind.
- Earthflower and Cloudspeckle become mates, and Mothpaw chooses to be happy for them instead of remaining resentful.
- She tries to become closer to Cloudspeckle, but keeps a bit of distance when Earthflower becomes pregnant again, wanting their kits to have a father that would always be there for them.
- Mothpaw becomes a warrior.
- Mothpaw earns the name Mothlight.
- Soon after, Bramblekit and Brightkit are born, and Mothlight immediately forms a bond with them, vowing to keep them safe.
- Earthflower and Cloudspeckle become sick.
- Mothlight tries to care for Bramblekit and Brightkit as best she can in their stead.
- Earthflower and Cloudspeckle die, and Mothlight is devastated, but finds her reason to move on in her little siblings.
- When the kits are older, Brightkit asks Mothlight what happened to their parents, and she tells her the truth, but also that "their spirits would be part of nature and the river, like all MistClan cats".
- She watches over them, and is as proud as a mother when they become apprentices.
- Taking her words to heart, Brightpaw tries to dive into the river to see their mother and father, but ends up nearly drowning.
- Bramblepaw tries to save her, but cannot pull her out on his own, and an unknown cat appears just in time to save Brightpaw from drowning.
- When they're taken back to camp, Bramblepaw turns on Mothlight, accusing her of trying to plan Brightpaw's death.
- Mothlight is horrified at what her words have caused, and tries to apologize to her siblings, but a rift forms between them, only made deeper by Bramblepaw actively keeping Brightpaw away from their sister.
- Even now, after Bramblestorm and Brightfrost becoming warriors, the wounds between them haven't healed.
