Description
Okay, my first time submitting something to my gallery... Let's see.I've made this picture for a friend of mine, ~MarcelisKhaldern . He asked me to do some of his weapons in 3D. So this one is number 2 on the linked sheet - Marcelis' sword. A pity it gets destroyed later on...
I've had a hard time with the end of those bandages around the hilt. Not using any textures for the sword at all, I had to rely on procedural maps. So reducing the opacity at the edge of those things using a noise map to create a fabric-like fuzziness cost a lot of time. What else... Well, the blade is a bevelled line which has been cut a hole into with the boolean modifier afterwards.
Made in 3ds Max 9 with the Mental Ray renderer, no idea how long it took to make, but rendering time was a little over two minutes. ^^

Ooh, that's very nice. I wish I had some decent modeling software that I'm actually able to use.
