Description Okay, as you might notice, I hate Mike and Zoey. They're unrealistically unappealing, too idealistic, poorly written and executed, and every single flaw you can imagine. And yes, I even think Norm from Norm of the North is better than these two.

However, that doesn't mean I wholly hate them. I like them for being a canon couple, but so much about them, like being Mary Sues, lacking personalities, and poor writing, hinders their likability.

For Zoey, the writers have clearly no idea HOW to use her and what she should be, aside from being Mike's girlfriend. She's THE Mary Sue example of Total Drama. While you can argue that she's been in peril that she can't escape, those actually derails her. At first, she's an indie chick. Now, she's either a godplayer or a damsel, which is THE mistake a writer CAN make when giving flaws. Unlike Korra or Asami, Zoey's problems aren't based on her flaws, but because of plot. Yes, most problems she encounters that she ended up falling to are because of PLOT. That's why Miki from Katamari is better than her, she's got an actual definition and more to her than just her appeal, something Zoey is only made for. She's also contradicting to her original purpose, making her more annoying than ever. Let's not forget that the writers clearly modify and derail everything around her JUST to make her a embodiment of pure good and your ideal girl, when she's not that actually.

Most of her appeal comes from being nice, which is rather confusing if you NOTICE her story, and pretty. Pretty? You know who's prettier than you Zoey?

Killer Croc: I'm beautiful.

Yep, Killer Croc is the most handsome film character of 2016.

So, for people who hated Asami, just look at how bad Zoey is.Β There's a huge difference in their love. Asami implied to take care of Korra when she's injured, showing concern for Korra's absence, sends understanding messages, AND showing feelings to each other, that is love because it shows emotions. Zoey accompanying Mike out of concern yet doesn't bother to inspect further, acting more obsessed rather than worried, as evidenced that most of her "concern" is out of the fact she loves Mike rather than worrying about his well-being, and the fact that she DOESN'T bother noticing that Mike's acting evil when he's obviously do, making her dumber than she supposed to be, THAT'S not love, that's the PG-version of obsessive nymphomania. And Zoey is even more useless than Asami, and she DOESN'T do anything that would solve Mike's problem, and Mike SOLVED his problem without her.

For Mike, the writers have the potential to make him THE best TD character, AND fail horribly. They let his MPD/DID define him. Aside from having NO personality, other than his one-note goofiness, and his one-note alternate personalities, he also has that CONTROVERSIAL ending. Even if THAT ending wasn't controversial, that doesn't save him from his other flaws, like having WASTED potential. Signolo from Katamari HAS more reasons to exist THAN Mike. If you wanted to make a character like Mike but scared of doing something wrong, just let that character be like Signolo, a background character who shows quirks one time after another.

Mako from The Legend of Korra obviously has less potential than Mike, YET Mako is utilized to become ONE of the BEST Avatar characters ever made, while Mike is just a FAN BAIT. You can tell that Mike is made just so that the writers can get fans quicker, when they don't know that the older fans would expect more than just gaining fans.

By going with Linkara's solution of better ways of introducing the New Powers in Megaforce, there are actually ways to work with Mike and Zoey's focus in a cliche way and STILL make the season's story good. Like, have the progress be significant like Mike manages to gather more than one of his alternate personalities in in the first 5 episodes after Mal's introduction, have a single episode shows Mike freeing one personality and another at the next, make the progress look like a struggle than a boredom, probably have Mal's problem BE SOLVED BEFORE the FINALE. As for Zoey, just make her do her best to get to Mike, like calling out his name at his ears, acknowledging Mike is Mal very early, and probably do some justice by actually restraining Mal. For the other contestants, make them THE spotlight in the episodes they're GOING to be eliminated in. But instead, artificial prolonging of plot that goes nowhere until the end.

You think fans won't make their own Mike and Zoey? Nope. Rudy and Scarlett from Papa Louie games is them, except that ''Zoke'' is the one fans asked for. And while it's still ''Zoke,'' AT LEAST it was because of the fans wanting them to be the spotlight, which actually is a kind fan gift rather than an insult.

That's why Mako from The Legend of Korra...

Wait... Mako is way superior than the two characters combined, and his love story is more realistic despite not getting any girls. Hmm... Oh! That's why Macho from Katamari Damacy is such an important character when it comes to making new characters for a new entry of a series.

I need to bring up Macho from Katamari Damacy series. He's NEARLY in the same concept as them, new characters for new series entries. The difference here is that Macho is both characters done right. He's not spotlight stealing and is THE best cousin debuting from We Love Katamari. While he's the least quirky WLK cousin (Lucha and Daisy's identities of being a Mexican wrestler ane a cow respectively are more interesting than being a bodybuilder), the 3rd-5th most Prince-like cousin (Beaten by Lucha and Daisy and tied with Miki and Slip), and even has no trait that makes him stand out, but these 3 things are important because he stands out for not trying to stand out. Macho's appeal comes from the fact that he's meant to not catch the fans' attention while Mike and Zoey are shoved to make fans want them.

Also, Mike and Zoey embodies the WORST character archetype ever made, fan baiters. They tend to be lifeless and unoriginal. They're lazily made with the goal of being the characters fans will like. Not Macho, he embodies the character archetype of being the colorless in the field of rainbows, which is one of the BEST character archetypes ever, if the makers know how to use it.

What even offends me more is that, if you know The Legend of Korra, Mike and Zoey is the closest thing to a canon Mako and Korra shipping. They really do, especially with the involvement of love triangles and plucky boys with the special girls. The differences here is that Mako x Korra is realistic and shows development, while Mike x Zoey looks like a dream of a stressed person and the development is as much as loving each other and that's it. And if this is what Mako x Korra, alongside with Ichigo x Rukia, Mordecai x Margaret/CJ, Tai x Sora, and a few other de-canonized fan favourite couples would be, then be glad that they averted the fate Mike and Zoey had.

Everything belongs to their respective owners

"Zoey and Mike have a story."
What story?!
"Well, they went together and flourish their love."
That's not story! That's simply baiting fans deeper than they already went. Their love is already obvious at first, and everything else were made just to make it look like a story.

Do you agree?
