And at some point, Tails, Blaze or Rouge is gonna compare him to the story Rip Van Winkle because of the long stretch between the two games and how he managed to sleep through the near-apocalypse (not counting the Death Egg, Perfect Chaos and Iblis/Solaris, all of which he was on and active as soon as they became a problem).

Not sure. I haven't read the book in a while. My memory serves he stayed youthful the entire time. I don't know and maybe Sonic would point out that flaw as a sarcastic comment to whoever pointed that out and say he's still the same blue 17-year-old hedgehog ready to crack Eggman.

Yeah, I read 80% of the Archie comics back in the day and watched my friends play the good games as well as watch the cartoons religiously. Wouldn't say I'm an expert, but I know Sonic better than most I guess

It's...complicated Ken Penders demanded, not sued, Archie and Sega to have his characters removed from the comics after his contract was lost (not expired, LOST) and they apparently did not have the legal power to keep the characters they created and the characters Penders spent a good decade creating and fleshing out would become Sega's property. The problem was that the situation was being so badly handled that, in addition to discovering Archie lost the original contracts for Penders and several of the other creators that they apparently FIRED their entire legal department and got a new one. This caused many a headache for the courts, Archie and Penders (the judge himself said "So THIS looks like a fine MESS", I'm not even kidding ) that eventually everyone was like "Screw this" and the reboot happened that excised everything Ken Penders created, which of course he has since spun off into his own book.

If that sounds confusing to you, it SHOULD.
