On 27th February 1996 Pocket Monsters Red and Pocket Monsters Blue Green were released in Japan.

15 years later, on the dawn of a new generation of games, it's interesting to look back at where the series has gone and how it's grown. From the simplicity of Red and Blue to the awesomeness of Crystal to the epicness of Black and White, and everything in between - it's been an interesting ride and one thing's for sure: it ain't gonna stop anytime soon.

The (once again, slightly rushed) pic above shows Pokémon that have played an important role in the movies from 1 to 13, as the movies are one of my favourite things in the franchise. (the latest one was shown on CITV yesterday. ) Some have been left out as I couldn't fit them on without making the pic insanely huge - Mew (who I can't draw anyway), the legendary birds, Groudon (who didn't really have much of a part in movie 6 anyway), Palkia, Darkrai, Giratina and Zorua (who strangely enough had a much bigger part than Zoroark in the movie. Go figure.)

It's also the first time I've drawn about half of these so apologies if any of them look a little weird. I'll definitely be drawing some of these again in the future.

So yeah, Happy Birthday Pokémon! Here's to the next fifteen years.
