Description Been a while but I'm back into art again! Got inspired and decided I wanted to 1-Up myself in water.

Anyone a Wave Race 64 fan out there? For Nintendo 64 tribute.
What better way to do a water scene than with Wave Race, when it had the best water around.

Where is Ryota? I only see Ayumi Stewart, Miles Jeter and Dave Mariner.

this is really nice and a good upgrade to the base game, wish you would do more from diffent tracks. You do good with darks and lights. Hit up the night stage and add some of the nice bright balls

Hey FirebornForm! I created a waverace64 cover song that I’m going to upload to YouTube. May I use this image as the background if I credit you and provide a link back here?

I had sketched out the initial layout but I think Southern Island captured the fun mood of WaveRace64 better, but now that the major tribute is over if I were to revisit WaveRace I'd definitely give Twilight City strong consideration with the city light reflections in the water!

Man this brings back memories I still remember the N64, Legend of zelda and Mario 64. Ah the good old days.Β
I must say, the water is stunning, love the details and realism as well. Everything is blending in together perfectly Β
and now I feel like I should dig up my old Roms and play some N64 Β

I still own my N64, but maybe we should hook up the emulator Project64 1.7 and have some netplay sometime.

Thanks for the kind words even though I'm way late on the reply, finally getting to backlog replies! Now that most of the discussion for ProjCom is settled down.

Omg I just saw this. Your style is really polished, that water is amazing! You absolutely nailed the perspective on this, it brings back a lot of memories.

Thanks! A lot of this was due to knocking down my huge list of brushes to only like four I really used (with different fiddling on settings). A soft round, hard chalk, and smooth chalk with a soft blender smudge were the main weapons used. I know you're as bad about "collecting" as I am (Nate still takes the cake) but maybe it wouldn't hurt to take an axe to your library!

Cronoan In reply to FirebornForm [2016-06-24 21:34:36 +0000 UTC]

Right?? I've been thinking about doing that forever! I only use a basic chalk, hard round, soft round, and lining brush anyway. But then I go to 86 the rest and it's like "I might want these leafy brushes someday for a jungle scene" or "but these brushes are for FACIAL PORES I TOTALLY NEED THOSE." The struggle is real bro.

Hehe, I know that feeling I'm still struggling with it and having got a system nailed down in stone yet. BUT for specific pieces I usually keep it only between a few brushes that I remember, it's just that my pieces vary wildly so I still have tons of brushes and nothing is solved. Of course this leads to "uh what brush was it that I made this one effect with?" too many times.

You know you can keep a tight group of "favorites" in Tool Presets, but of course this can be even more of a problem if you go nuts with it because Tool Presets isn't just brushes, its brushes+whatever tool you used+whatever setting you had.

OH my gosh.... this....

*loses coherency for a bit*Β  Okay this just gave me the craziest love-hate nostalgia.... water, man, it's so hard to steer.... and yet we still just kept playing it....

But aside from that my gosh--it's just so GORGEOUS! The angle, the sky, those planes, the WAAATTERRRRR---- My gosh I can taste the salt spray just looking at it. I kind of want to go swimming in it. |D

And of course that big lovely logo N.

This is just amazing all over. Thank you for this.

Yeah! I really miss wave race, but it was a blast to play. I would totally go swimming and snorkeling here.

That N wasnt in the game level but I think it's a better substitute than the billboard.

Makes me want to grab a board and go out and catch some waves.
Great job on the transparency of the water in a very tropical setting.

Heh I've got no ocean nearby only a canal but I've been out west to the pacific ocean once.
Thanks! Went in and did a full study on water for this one. Tropical waves is definitely something different than I've done, it was a challenge at first to breakdown how to pull off the look but it paid off.

It shows man, you got the color palate down and the clarity of the tropical water. Right away i thought of a hawaiian beach back home.
Fantastic job, i did one for Turok 64Β fav.me/d9z6wij .

Stunning work as allways!
I cant tell if you have gotten better at drawing characters or that they just look better because of the padded suits but lets hope its the former.People are a less than optimal area of your otherwise magnificent art skills.

Well, dont get me wrong. The characters in your most recent work isnt bad in any way. They just need polish.

I love it! Captures the excitement and overall feel of WaveRace perfectly. The waves in particular look gorgeous - much like the original game looked gorgeous back then. Only criticism is that it needs more dolphins

Thanks! the dolphins are not forgotten just decided to do a focus on the riders this time! Maybe another wave race picture il have them racing on the dolphins.
