Here is my first updated reference! You all probably know who she is, but if not, this is my OC, Kassidy, one of the main characters in Where the Wild Calls. If you love badass heroines who just happens to have magic, she is precisely that

I’m so happy I finally made a proper reference sheet for her, and for those of you who have been struggling to draw certain things for her, like her tattoos, I do apologize for not making a proper reference sheet soon, but now here you are with everything you need to know. I also apologize for not making proper sheets as well for my other main characters, but anyway, I’ll get on with what you need to know.

Kassidy has three tattoos: one on her left forearm, one on her left upper arm, and one on her back. I couldn’t draw the wolf tattoo, but I still have an old reference sheet for it, which I’ll put down below—though it’s pretty wonky so please don’t mind it :

The pentagram mark in the middle of her right hand I believe (I don’t think I ever said which hand it was, but if I’m wrong, I’ll make a quick update on that on here). In my fanfic, anyone who has magic has a pentagram mark in the middle of their hand, which would include my other OCs with magic like Martin.

For jewelry, Kassidy always wears a choker around her neck. She also has a necklace that allows her to transform into any animal she desires—it was a birthday gift from her parents. In my fanfic, I would imagine that transforming into any animal with magic is very difficult to do and requires so much concentration, energy, and description in one’s mind, so amulets were made for that to make transformations much more manageable.

Species: A human who is turned Silverwing, though that’s debatable if she is a full-blooded Silverwing or not

Gender: Female

Age: 18

Description:

Human form: Her skin is white as snow, and she has ocean-blue eyes. Her hair used to be a dark brown color, but now she dyes it, and her current hair color in ‘Where the Wild Calls’ is ruby red. She has tattoos on her body, her forearm having a bat, her upper arm having a skull with roses surrounding it, and a wolf bust on her back.
Bat form: Same descriptions above, only she’s a blue bat with the same colored mane as her hair. She’s the same height as Marina, making her taller than Shade and smaller than Holden, Chinook, Orestes, Helen, and, of course, the giant bats.

Background (I recommend not reading this if you have not read WtWC to avoid possible spoilers): Kassidy was born in the USA in the state of Ohio to her parents and was an only child growing up. With both parents happening to be magic-users, Kassidy naturally possessed it too and was trained to control her powers and such. Her parents adored her growing up and were always there to support and love her during her highs and lows. Kassidy couldn’t have asked for any better parents. However, tragedy struck one day in the summer of July when she and her parents were on their way home. Something was wrong with the car’s brake, and her dad tried to stop it, but it was to no avail, and before anyone knew it, a semi-truck rammed into their vehicle.

Kassidy woke up in the hospital with a couple of broken ribs, a fractured wrist, and some incisions. A nurse saw that she regained consciousness and quickly fetched the doctor. When the doctor came in, she explained to Kassidy what happened very delicately… and that was when she told her that her parents didn’t make it. At that moment, Kassidy felt like her world shattered. It was too soon for her to lose her parents, and even though she was alive, it was as though a part of her had died along with her parents. She had not felt the same since.

While recovering in the hospital, her aunt, uncle, and cousins finally arrived after making a long trip from Canada and were relieved to see that Kassidy was okay. Kassidy was glad to see them but just felt hollow. When Kassidy was finally discharged from the hospital, funeral arrangements were made for her parents. When the day of the funeral service finally came, Kassidy did all she could to keep her emotions in check, but deep down, she was deeply hurt, filled with nothing but guilt. She felt like this was her fault… if she hadn’t been paralyzed with fear while her dad was trying to keep the car under control, she might’ve been able to save her family.

From that day on, she vowed never to let anything bad happen to her loved ones and those she cared for.

Kassidy and her dog Raven then moved to Canada to live with her aunt, uncle, and cousins, and they welcomed them with open arms. Throughout the summer, Kassidy went to therapy and continued her journey of trying to heal, both physically and mentally. While it wasn’t easy, she slowly started to get better. However, the grief of losing her parents was still something very sensitive to her, especially if they were ever brought up. To try not to think about that day, Kassidy poured all her heart and energy into any activities she could get her hands on, like practicing her magic more since her parents couldn’t teach her anymore, doing creative writing, reading, playing with her little cousins, etc. When it was finally time for her to attend school, she knew she would enter a new environment with different people. Kassidy just wanted to focus on her schoolwork though and get good grades so she could possibly attend a good college one day. And she did, not bothering to make any friends at school since she wanted to focus on her well-being and her future. Things were like that for a while: getting schoolwork done, getting good grades, and doing her usual stuff, but when October rolled around, her story begins in ‘Where the Wils Calls’ when she is to tutor one of the popular guys in school, Holden Brooks, and what she didn’t realize was that her life was about to get crazier than it already was.

Personality: Kassidy is mature for her age. She’s very smart, clever as a fox, valiant most of the time, pretty tough, and creative regarding certain things like writing. She is primarily unemotional, but she still displays her other emotions at rare moments when she doesn’t realize it or can’t reign them in. Kassidy has more of a side to her than what’s on the outside, and when someone manages to crack that shell and see the inside, she can be pretty witty, funny, and a joy to be around. However, even with her pros, she does have her cons. She has anger issues, and whenever someone manages to strike a nerve of hers, she is a spitfire and will not take anyone’s crap, no matter who they are. She especially will not tolerate anyone speaking ill will of her loved ones and those she cares for. She is not fully experienced as a witch and is still learning, and when it comes to a lot of complex spells, she can’t seem to cast them correctly. Not only that, Kassidy tends to be a lone wolf and has trust issues. Even though Kassidy may look rough on the outside, she actually has a good heart and cares for her friends, family, and anyone else she deems to deserve good deeds.
