Description This is kind of different from my regular stuff. Then again not so different.

I've been so busy lately I've hardly had time to draw, so I don't know whether this is finished, but I guess that it is ... XD

Anyways, inspired by Monster Hunter and Okami

I think it just looks silly. I mean, it's not "Playelf" or something.

It might be some sort of casual armor, or only part of her full armor.
She might only be in town for a short while, but to relax she took off several parts so she could at least enjoy the cool summer breeze before she departs to slay hideous monsters to serve her country. That is but one of several possible scenarios. ;D

Wow.. amazing colours , the lineart is not to strong or too thick.
I wonder how you use the markers on bristol board though , I would think It would be too thick and suck the ink.

firedaemon In reply to Aicent [2011-08-02 17:31:04 +0000 UTC]

Not at all. The absorbency isn't really based on the weight (thickness) of the paper, but rather the roughness of the surface.
So because Bristol Board is very smooth it doesn't absorb the ink fast (unlike printer paper, or worse watercolour paper).
The benefit of heavy paper is that you can work into the paper more without it warping, and it feels a lot more substantial and high quality than marker paper which is a bit flimsy.

I see , its strange then , because i have only had my markers for a short time and many of the mare very dried out 0.0 I thought it was because i was using the Strathmoore 270 lb paper . Wel now i have to go buy expensive refills e__e
Yeah i hate marker paper , especially inking on it , it is so annoying.
Well thank you for the information

firedaemon In reply to Aicent [2011-08-02 17:55:12 +0000 UTC]

hmm, it might be that you've not got smooth surface Bristol board.
I tend to use Windsor and Newton Smooth Bristol Board.
270lb sounds expensive, I'm only usually able to get 140lb.

It depends what markers your using and how big the paper is as to how quickly they dry out.
I prefer to buy the bottles of ink as they're cheaper to refill and I can mix colours.

I'm using Copic Sketch markers.
And well here is the paper [link]

I think the ones with 'Smooth' or 'plate' surface should be good with markers, but 'semi-smooth' and definitely Vellum will soak up ink more quickly.
Also if you're working at larger than A4 you'll probably use up a lot of ink.

Copic sketch are pretty good. I like the ink refills and the pens themselves aren't too expensive.

Oh the pens are pretty expensive for me .. I'm only 14 and have no job
either way i am using the smooth one. Well I see. I'll try working wtih A4 size and wtith 140 , like you reccomend

firedaemon In reply to Aicent [2011-08-02 18:22:45 +0000 UTC]

that's ok. I think I only had 24 markers the first time my parents bought me some. I was really excited, even though I didn't really know how to use them to make stuff look good, or have enough to get nicely blended colours.

But just get to know what it is that makes them do the stuff that works for you and you'll get slowly build up the number of pens you have

lol no i meant my age is 14 , i think ii have at least 70 markers , although many of them are dying XD
You advice should help alot and i thank you for it

firedaemon In reply to Aicent [2011-08-02 18:36:04 +0000 UTC]

ah yeah, sorry I meant at your age I didn't have many pens because I couldn't buy them

If your pens are dying and Copics are a bit expensive, you can try ProMarkers. They're about the same price, but last longer I think. The ink is a bit more wet but less light resistant and no brush nib. Depends what you like to work with.

The coloring in particular...
