Description For The Far Wild .

Looks like the swirling vortex of a dimensional gateway between our world and the world of demons... and here is a scene of some of them traveling through.

I usually skip over the dragon art, because lets face it: its EVERYWHERE!! D: but this, even for someone who sees over 100 dragon pictures a week through that fantasy group, blows them all away! Its total gorgeousness That angle, and realistic sky colours are phenomenal!

Oh noeees...not the pwetty, red dragon. ;__; I'm awed by your design of the red dragon. The muscle formation and it's scars and glowing eyes. Its too awesome. >w< And even though the other birds surrounding it isn't as big or terrifying as the dragon, I can imagine them being more enchanting or wiser according to your description of the picture.

Is it hard determining the colours, shape and lighting of the clouds? Hmm...nevertheless, I believe you painted it excellently. Impressive art piece here.

firedudewraith In reply to Lacelette [2010-01-05 19:31:11 +0000 UTC]

Well, IMO since I'm more of an environment artist than creature, the sky was relatively easier compare to the dragon and most hardest of all for this piece, the dynamic perspective and composition that works. Looking back at it, I think the clouds could look much more natural too.

Lacelette In reply to firedudewraith [2010-01-07 05:10:36 +0000 UTC]

Ooooh....oh yeah, no wonder most of your artworks are so scenic. Haha, doi. Well, the challenge is well met then. I think the dynamic perspective looks great. It has this toppling off, almost whirlwind sort of dynamic motion. Very cool. Try not to be too overcritical with your masterpieces.

Impressive artist. The "portal" (or should I say maw?) looks quite good. As for your creatures, the dragon is quite impressive, although there a quite a few birds, no?
Your otherworld reminds me off Void. Rather similair those two concepts...

firedudewraith In reply to Ulhtramon [2009-02-11 10:41:45 +0000 UTC]

I'm not familiar with void though. And with the many 'quite' in your comment, I assume from your point of view, it can be further improved right? I'm eager to listen out if you have any critism / suggestion.

Ulhtramon In reply to firedudewraith [2009-02-11 11:01:24 +0000 UTC]

I am not certain if it was the "effect" you where going for or not (although I suspect you had a bit of a time constraint) but for all the great detail in your clouds, there is a single flaw.
The sharp flat "line-like" elongations are a little unnatural. As well as the other (draconic?) creature in the background also seems to "rough" for it to have been a matter of distance causing the distortion.
Otherwise (with the possible exception of the "teeth" of the maw, which could use a little more elagance) the work is good.

firedudewraith In reply to Ulhtramon [2009-02-11 14:13:09 +0000 UTC]

Thanks for your constructive criticism.

There's actually two very subtle and not defining movement in this still:
(1) everything moves directly toward the pit, dragons and birds apparently (by mysterious callings or possession), and the clouds get drawn to it (possibly by some unseen gravitational force), and
(2) the swirling part of the clouds encircling down towards the pit.

So small portion of clouds that are 'lighter' exhibit (1) attribute rather than (2), ie. they got sucked directly by mere stronger force than to tie in with the swirling force, hence the unnatural "line-like" effect. As to how successful I illustrated the point, I guess that's questionable.

As for the dragons in the background (there's only two though), I agree it's bit rough out.

As it stands now, there's actually a very huge invisible space inbetween. The portal is huge, the dragon would probably 1/100 the size of the portal. I'd say it's a weird feeling when there's so much distance and space and not having a proper visual scale to compare, much like imagining astronauts viewing our moon from space and not knowing the actual size of it or distance from it, that kind of weird feeling. Haha. That's my opinion, of course.

Hmmm...that does clear up the second part, paerhapse adding a slight colour change or possibly curling the drawn-out parts might improve the impression of gravitation.
