Description A 19-year old girl, Samantha Pabon, or Sammy as her friends had always known her, had been staying late at school for the past few days studying for a huge examine for her Animal Studies class. She sported her pink t-shirt, a pair of purple jeans and white and pink shoes with a heart insignia on the side. Her long braided brown hair rested against her back. She decided to call it a day and head home. It had been an unbearably long day, she didn't want it to be a long night too. She gathered her books and placed them in her backpack. She grabbed her green coat and slipped it on. It was raining heavily and it was very cold. "Great, just great." She thought to herself as he stared at the storm outside. But no matter how she moaned to herself, the storm would not let up. Somehow, she knew it too.

Sammy had braced the storm with vigilance, but her patients was wearing thin. She didn't drive home because she lacked a vehicle. Well, at least for tonight, her brother borrowed her car to drive to a friend's house. She didn't mind the walk, well not usually. On nice sunny days anyway. She pulled her coated over her as close as she could. Her fingers were freezing and her face wasn't much warmer, even with her hood on. She knew she was still a long ways from home, but she knew a shortcut. An alleyway nearby cut right to her street. But it didn't seem safe however. It was littered with graffiti and horrible gang signs. But she was cold, wet and tired. She decided that just this once, she'll use the short cut. She headed into the alleyway with caution and speed. She didn't want to stay there anymore than she had too. She was almost there, almost out of the alleyway. She felt an incredible amount of relief fall upon her. However, just as she was about to make her final steps in the alleyway, a man stepped in front of her, blocking her path. This man had many piercings on his face, his hair stood up, and what Sammy had noticed most was that all over this man's clothing was a strange dragon. She had heard about these kinds of people on the news. The Purple Dragons gang. A group of kids that think themselves better than the law. Believing they don't have to follow any laws that think they don't have to. She looked behind her to see two more men closing in on her. She took her backpack of her back, grabbing it by the straps. "Hey, beautiful." one of them spoke with a suggestive tone. She quickly swung her bag at the one in front of her, but the thug was too fast and moved out of the way. She swung again wildly hoping to hit him, but he grabbed the bag. She struggled to free her bag and that's when the thug swung the bag hard to his left. Sammy was sent to the brick wall and fell to the ground unconscious.

The thugs had gathered around the unconscious young woman. What must have gone through their minds must have been unspeakable. Thankfully, this young woman had a guardian angel watching her. For out of the shadows, emerged a large reptilian creature standing on two legs, like a man. This creature growled with anger and rage. The thugs turned to see the sky take the shape of a large alligator on two legs. "It's a monster!" one of them shouted. One of the thugs quickly picked up a steel bar and charged at the beast. The alligator caught the steel rod as the thug swung it at him. He then picked up the thug by his black t-shirt and tossed into a nearby dumpster him like a rag doll. The other two grabbed steel poles they found on the ground and charged at the beast. The alligator grabbed them by their waists and threw them several feet in front of him with ease. The beast then let out a triumphant roar. "Run!" one of the brigands shouted as he scattered to his feet. The other one followed him closely, leaving the third to his fate. The alligator then walked towards the unconscious girl and gently picked her up with both arms. He then disappeared into the darkness.

In a business office, a huge rather muscular man with a short-cropped hair sat at his desk. The shear size of his desk suggested that he was a big shot in whatever business he was in. He wore a white tank top, and had a tattoo on his arm that was a long purple snake. On his face, he had a scar of some kind. Three slashes across his left cheek. His name was Hun, and he was the infamous leader of the Purple Dragon gang. He had been sitting at his desk because he had been expecting someone. Suddenly, two people entered through the doors of his office. One male who had spiked brown hair and wore a brown jacket that looked incredible expensive. He had on a blue t-shirt and black leather pants. The other a female who had messy short brown hair whom was wearing a black leather jacket, under it revealed a red bustier. She also wore black leather pants. "It's about time." Hun spoke to his guesses. "I'd say we've arrived just in time." the male spoke. "Hardly. Now let's gets this over with." Hun demanded as he stood up. "I take it you both are here for the job." he continued. "Let's get to the point of our pay, big guy." the female impatiently stated. "I pay only when you deliver." Hun said with irritation. "So, you want us to hunt down some animals in the sewers?" the male asked, "What do we look like? Pest control?" he mocked. This comment made Hun angry, "These animals are tougher than you think." he replied. He then opened a folder and handed the male a piece of paper. A photo actually. The female looked over the male's shoulder to see the photo. On the photo, they saw a group of four monsters. Monsters that looked like giant turtles. "Giant turtles?" the female asked with disbelief. "Hunt them down, and I'll give you the payment I offered." Hun stated. "You've got a lot of nerve calling us here for a fairy tale!" the female shouted raising her arm as if to strike her much larger opponent. The male grabbed her arm. "Will you excuse us for a moment?" he asked as he dragged the female to the other end of the room.

"Don't tell me you believe this garbage?!" the female shouted. "Amanda, who says we have to?" the male stated. "I told you not to call me that! I'm Slice!" she snapped as she drew a knife from her pocket and pressed it against her brother's throat "And if you don't want to find out why, you'll forget Amanda! I don't care if you're my brother!" "Now, now, dear sister, let's calm down." The brother said calmly, as he pushed away his sister's arm slowly. "After all, we are on business." he continued. "What are you getting at?" she demanded as she put her knife away. "If this guy is willing to post such unbelievable games for an incredible price, it might be something we could be interested in." the brother explained. "We just simply demand a payment upfront." he continued. "You think he'll go for it?" Slice asked. "What choice does he have?" he smirked.

The man had walked up to Hun, who was twice his size. "Alright, big man. We'll take the job, but we'll need a payment upfront." he stated. "I don't think so." Hun replied. The male knew Hun wouldn't agree to his terms easily, but he would agree. "If these freaks are as strong as you say they are, you need someone who knows monsters." he stated. Hun knew these hunters tracked down and executed several dangerous animals, just for pleasure. He knew if anyone could do the job, they could. Not that he was willing to give up money if he could avoid it. "Look, I'll make this easy for you. You don't pay upfront we walk." the male stated. Hun knew he couldn't lose this chance to get rid of his mutant enemies. "Fine." he snarled through his teeth. Hun then walked to a monitor on the wall and pushed a button. The monitor then moved to reveal a safe with a electronic lock with keypad. He punched in some keys in a certain order and the safe opened with no resistance. He reached inside the safe and pulled out a briefcase. "Half. But I want proof that those freaks are history." Hun stated as he threw the briefcase at the male. The male caught the briefcase with one hand. Upon opening it, he saw stack after stack of money. This put a smile on the man's face, "Awfully nice doing business with you." he smirked as he and his sister left the room.

Sammy had been for... she didn't know how long, but her head hurt. She slowly opened her eyes to a shocking sight. She saw a giant alligator in front of her and immediately reacted in fright. In her fright, she screeched and slapped the reptile on the nose. "Ouch." the alligator moaned. Sammy's fear and fright had quickly been taken over by amazement. She couldn't believe what had just happened. She just heard a giant alligator ... talk? "What... What's going on...?" She asked, shaking at what had just happened. "My apologies, I didn't mean to frighten you." the reptile spoke. "You can talk?!" she responded, amazed that what she had heard was true. A seven-foot tall alligator was talking to her, rather politely. "What... Who are you?" she asked. "Allow me to introduce myself, I am Leatherhead." the alligator greeted Sammy with a polite bow. "Leatherhead? I'm Samantha, but my friends call me Sammy." Sammy introduced herself. She then put her hand on her head. Her head still hurt. "Do you remember anything?" Leatherhead asked. Sammy stopped to think for a second, most of it was a blur, but she could remember a few things. "I remember... being attacked..." she started. "You were already unconscious when I found you. I could not stand by." Leatherhead explained. "How... how did you know I was in trouble?" Sammy asked. "In truth, I was wondering the sewers looking for some friends of mine. That is when I discovered what was happening above me." Leatherhead continued to explain. "You saved me?" Sammy asked, still confused, but at the same time, captivated. She started to blush as she stared into the eyes of her rescuer. Leatherhead blushed as well, as if he could sense her feelings for him. "Thank you." Sammy finally said after several moments of silence. Leatherhead smiled. He then took her hand. "You are welcome, Samantha." he said, just before he gently kisses her hand.

Ken, or Sever as his sister calls him, had always been the calmer and more sane of the siblings. At least, that's what he considered himself. He looked towards a small device on his arm to pick up sounds inside the sewer pipe. He and his sister crawled through the tunnels following any loud noises that might appear. That is when he noticed a stray brown and white cat nearby. Scraping an empty can for food. His sister noticed too. She pulled a gun from her shoulder holster and pointed it at the cat. Sever quickly grabbed his sister's arm. "Can't you control you blood lust?" he snapped quietly. "Where's the fun in that?" Slice replied with a sinister smile. "Trust me, we'll have our fun soon enough." he explained. "Then why stop me from having some fun now?" Slice demanded. "If those monsters hear that gunshot, they will flee." Sever explained as he let go of his sister's arm. "We have the element of surprise, let's not waste it." he continued. "Whatever you say, brother." she surrendered as she slipped the gun back in her holster and continued down the cave. He knew she would have pulled the trigger too. Even as a little girl, she always love torturing animals. She would often take their parent's dog out to the back and beat it to take out her frustration. After a while, she would just do it because she could. They were awfully close. So close in fact, only he has been able to control her killer instinct. He stared at the feline and thought to himself, "You are so lucky that I'm going to be rich today. "

Leatherhead had offered to take Sammy home through an underground tunnel in the sewers. During their journey, Sammy decided to get to know her rescuer better. "So you lived in New York for years?" she asked as Leatherhead explained that he had been in New York for a while. "How is it that no one has heard about you yet?" she asked. "My family, the Utroms, had been living in secret for a long time." Leatherhead started. "It was less than a year ago that my family was forced to leave this world. " he finished with a certain sadness in his voice. Leatherhead had explained that the Utrom was a race of benevolent aliens that had been stranded on Earth for hundreds of years. They were 'brains with eyes, mouths, and tentacles' as Leatherhead described them. "I'm sorry." she sympathised with him, grabbing his three fingered hand. This made Leatherhead smile. "It is alright, I have found a new family. They have helped me in times of great need." he continued, "But I haven't seen them for days." Leatherhead was worried about his family, this much Sammy could tell. She only wish she could do something for him. She had started to think about what could help him, when Leatherhead suddenly stopped. "Is something wrong?" she asked. Leatherhead looked behind them and looked into the darkness. He then saw something shine in the light. He quickly grabbed Sammy in one arm and dove for cover behind a pile of rubble before hearing a loud gunshot. "What was that?!" Sammy asked in fright. "I do not know." Leatherhead replied. The pair then heard voices coming from the darkness. "Well, that was an unsuccessful sneak attack." a male voice stated. "That's alright, it's more fun this way." a female voice followed with a cackle. Leatherhead looked to see two people coming straight for them. One male holding a pistol in one hand and the other, a female with a machete.

Leatherhead stared into Sammy's eye and spoke, "Wait here." He then sank into the water beneath them. The siblings walked towards wear they saw the alligator disappear. "Come out, and we promise this will end quickly." Sever stated. Just as he made that comment, he saw the shadow of a large creature behind him. Before he could react, Leatherhead grabbed the man by his gun arm and tossed him against the wall, causing him to lose his weapon. The woman charged at Leatherhead swinging her machete at the beast. Leatherhead took a step back to avoid the blade. He then swung his fist at the woman, but the woman was too nimble and performed a back flip just out of Leatherhead's reach. Leatherhead then swept his tail towards the woman, but she leaped over the tail. Just as she landed, Leatherhead's tail swung back knocking her several feet over. She got up quickly and drew a hunting knife, tossing it in Leatherhead's direction. Leatherhead quickly move out of the way as the knife hit the back wall. The male finally regaining composure, found his weapon and pointed it at the croc. He shot at Leatherhead, but missed him. Leatherhead was too far away to get the man before he got another shot off. He ran straight for Sammy, and quickly picked her up with both arms, all while avoiding the man's gunshots. Leatherhead then ran into the darkness of the tunnels. Slice pulled out her gun and started firing random shots in the dark. Only when she ran out of bullets did she stop. She stared at her brother, "Where were you?" she snapped. "Sorry, I was too busy being unconscious." he snapped back. "You do realize that wasn't the mutant we were after, right?" Slice stated. "I'm aware of that." Sever stated, "But did you see the size of that thing?" he said with a cool tone. "I see several alligator loafers in his hide, don't you?" he continued. "Selling those things would make us rich." "But our employer wants a proof that the turtles are dead, not some alligator." Slice stated. Sever snickered, "Who says he has to know?" "What are you babbling about?" Slice mocked. "This is why I'm the thinker and you're the doer." he snarled. "We simply give our man proof that our reptilian friend is dead. By the time he finds out that it isn't turtle skin, we'll be long gone." he finished. "I like where your head is at, brother." Slice giggled at the thoughts that were gathering in her head. "Like I said, that's why you're the doer." Sever replied, "Now let's go before we lose it." he ordered as he headed into the darkness. His sister followed.

Leatherhead had been running for several minutes. He was breathing heavily, this much Sammy could feel. Leatherhead finally stopped to catch his breath. He let Sammy back on her feet. "I think we'll be safe here." he finally said. "Who were those two?" Sammy asked. "I do not know. I have never seen them before." Leatherhead replied. Sammy stared at Leatherhead with concern, and that is when she noticed something. "You're injured!" she wept as she put her hand on Leatherhead's arm, seeing a scratch in his arm. Leatherhead finally notice his injury, it must have happened when they were making their escape. "You need to wrap it." Sammy stated. She then looked around for anything that could wrap the wound. She could find anything nearby, but that is when she noticed a rip in her jeans. She must have received it when she was attack by those thugs. She then pulled at her jeans, ripping them just above her knee. She continued to rip and tear until they were disconnected to the rest of her jeans. She then saw a piece of metal a few feet from her that looked really sharp. She reached for it and place her hand on it. It was cold, but sharp. She dug the piece of metal into the leg of the jeans she had torn off and started to cut it in half. She then stood on a ledge just a few inches above where she was originally, as Leatherhead sat down this gave her the height to reach his shoulder. She then wrapped the legging around the wound tightly. "That should stop the bleeding." Sammy said as she finished wrapping. Leatherhead smiled at the kindness Sammy had just blessed him with. "Thank you." Leatherhead said as his eyes met with Sammy's. She couldn't help herself, but blush as she stared back at him. They stared at each for several seconds, deeply... BANG! A gunshot is heard. They both jump at the loud noise. "It must be those hunters!" Sammy declared in alarm. "We must hurry." Leatherhead took Sammy by the hand and started to run.

Leatherhead and Sammy keep running further down the tunnel when they see the female assailant. They stopped as they saw the female draw her gun. "Well, well, well, what have we here?" The female mocked. Leatherhead looked behind him to see the male with a strange looking whip. "Told you they'd run." the man taunted. Leatherhead stared at the male with anger. Sammy stayed close behind Leatherhead. "Come on, freak! Why don't you and me dance?!" the man baited. Leatherhead, in his anger, charged at the man. "Leatherhead, wait!" Sammy shouted. But before Leatherhead could stop, the man threw the strange whip at him. It wrapped itself around the crocodile's neck and started to deliver an electrical discharged into the crocodile's body. Leatherhead shouted in agony. "Leatherhead!" Sammy cried. She tried to help her friend, but her arms were grabbed by the woman from behind her. Sammy struggled to break free of her captor, but she wouldn't let go. "Let me go!" Sammy shouted in anger as she continued to struggle. Leatherhead, seeing Sammy in trouble, grew angry and reached for the whip around his neck to rip it off him. The male noticed this and revealed a remote. "I think not." Sever denied, as he pressed a button on the remote. As soon as the button had been triggered, another charge of electricity was sent through Leatherhead's body. Leatherhead shouted again in excruciating pain. Sammy couldn't bear to look, but that didn't stop her voice. "Stop it, you're hurting him!" She begged. "That's the idea." Sever smirked. Slice gave a cruel cackle, "Do it again! I love it when he squirms!" she exclaimed. Sever, with a smile, pressed the button on the remote. Leatherhead cried in pain as he fell to his knees in pain. Sammy could no longer see such a wonderful creature being tortured like this. She had had enough. Out of anger, she lifted her leg, and brought it down with great speed, digging her foot into Slice's. Slice shrieked with pain, and let go of her captive. Sammy then charged at Sever, tackling him to the ground. Sammy noticed the remote Sever had soar out of his hands as he fell to the ground. She quickly got up and ran over to where it landed. She stared down at it, and with absolute rage stomped on it as hard as she could.

She stomped on it again and again. The device breaking more and more each time she did so. Sever pushed her towards the ground and picked up the device. He then noticed Leatherhead start to stand up. And he was not happy. Sever quickly pressed the button to activate the collar, but nothing happened. He pressed it again and again, hoping each time would be different. "That witch broke it!" Slice shouted. Leatherhead grabbed the collar and ripped it apart as it were made of paper. He then seized Sever with his hand and tossed him over to the left wall. Sammy saw Slice draw her gun from her holster. "Watch out!" She cried. Just as the bullet was unleashed from the gun, Leatherhead quickly dove for the water. Slice then fired several shots in the water. Frantically, she kept her eyes near the water, searching for any sign of her scaled target. A few seconds past that seemed like hours, but no sign of the beast. "Where are you?" she murmured to herself. Suddenly, a huge wave of water shot up from behind her and took the form of the giant crocodile. Slice turned and ... BAM! Open fire at the croc. After the shot was fired, the croc dragged the woman into the water, diving into the deeper parts. "Leatherhead!" Sammy cried. She looked for her friend for several seconds, but he would not emerge. Those seconds felt like an eternity. She began to fear the absolute worse. Just as horrible thoughts entered her mind, Leatherhead emerge from the water slowly. In his right hand, the woman unconscious, but alive. "Leatherhead!" Sammy exclaimed with tears in her eyes, racing towards him with arms wide. The crocodile smiled and dropped his opponent, and embraced Sammy in his arms. They pulled away from each other, but only for a few inches. "I thought I..." Sammy sobbed. Leatherhead just smiled, as he gently wiped a tear rolling down her face. "I was fortunately evasive enough to avoid her slug." he explained.

Sever, regaining his consciousness, saw his sister laying by the large croc, who was embracing the young girl. He came up with a plan, rather quickly. Sever got up and darted for the darkness. He wasn't quiet, so Leatherhead heard his footsteps through the water. "Wait here." Leatherhead asked as he gave chase to Sever. Sever wanted the monster to follow him. He smiled as he turned the corner and pulled out a taser gun. He turned around and waited for the beast to show himself, hiding the weapon behind his back. As soon as Leatherhead turned the corner, he saw the man only a few feet from him. He charged at him, but before he could get far, the man revealed his weapon and opened fire. Two darts dug into Leatherhead and gave him an electrical shock. This weapon was much stronger than ones given to citizenry or ones issued by police. This weapon was meant to kill. Leatherhead stopped as he fell to his knees, shouting in pain. Sever, feeling confident, took several steps towards Leatherhead. "Anyone for crocodile? I hear it's quite the delicacy in China!" he sneered. Sammy rushed in out of the darkness tackling Sever to the ground. His weapon flew from his hand as he hit the ground. "Brat!" he yelled as he got up. He then slapped Sammy. Sever pulled a knife from his pocket and stood over Sammy, "We should have finished you when we had the chance." he smirked as he lifted his arm. Sammy just stared at him with tears in her eyes. He brought it down to strike when a huge force stopped him. A force named Leatherhead. Grabbing Sever's arm, Leatherhead tossed him against the far wall hard. Sever fell to the ground unconscious.

Leatherhead stared at his opponent for a few seconds to make sure he was down and out. He picked up Sammy and helped her on her feet. "Are you alright?" he asked. "Leatherhead... I..." she said as she stared into his eyes. Then something took control of her, something she couldn't control. She pressed her lips against his. Leatherhead didn't realize what happened and by the time she pulled away from him he still couldn't believe it. Sammy started to blush, Leatherhead just stood there, shocked and baffled. "I'm ..." Sammy started, not entirely sure of what to say, "I'm sorry... I didn't mean... I mean..." but not matter how hard she tried she couldn't find the words to say. "I'm sorry." she finally declared as she turned around. But as she started to walk away, she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned around, knowing it was Leatherhead's hand. When she turned, she only saw Leatherhead's beaming smile. He pressed gently his lips against hers. At first Sammy was shocked, but her surprised quickly dissolved. Leaving only bliss. They released their kiss. "Leatherhead... I." Sammy started. "Sammy, I care about you very much." Leatherhead confessed with a smile. Tears started to develop in Sammy's eyes, "I care about you too." she returned. As the embraced each other in the darkness of New York City, the sun began to shine on the new day as if to greet this new, unexpected and yet...Β Β wonderful love
