Description A few things:

1. Project Dogwaffle and OC demo are free for download.
2. Yes, I do use a graphics tablet, it's a Medion MD 41217.
3. No tutorial can teach you how to draw well right away -- most of it is experience, time, and attention to detail.
4. This tutorial, however, attempts to explain how to use the selected CG programs effectively.
5. The painting in the middle is full size. I usually draw on the 1000x1500 pixel canvas with 1-2 px brushes.
6. The finished result is posted here: [link]

OpenCanvas Demo (CGIllust) can be downloaded here: [link]
Project Dogwaffle download is here: [link]

Contact me at dogwaffle@thebest3d.com if you have something and want to show it

good to see a tutorial involving Dogwaffle.

did you use the optipustics particle brushes for the hair? There are a few presets for hair and it's fully customizable. There are also some like long hair at the freebies in [link] - look for the doggie

FYI, also, PD Pro is now at version 3.7 - [link]

Wow! I love tutorials. I guess I need to learn patience in order to draw something as well as this, but your tutorial has inspired me.

Thank you. I'll check it out. Messy? Yep! Matches my thought process exactly.

Oh my god, Eminem - that's amusing, so weird and so fitting. It amazes me that you do tutorials - it would seem like a very cumbersome thing to explain.

Oh, you are the first one to notice the sheer weirdness of the Eminem ref. Thank you! I thought it was rather amusing, but he did have that cold look to him on that photo, that I immediately thought: Malfoy look.

The tutorials are ok to do. I save the midsteps for my artwork anyway (every finished piece has at least 8 or 9), and with tutorials they're at least put to good use.

I have no logical midsteps in my art, it's as she flies sort of thing. And then - well crap, let me change that. But you are right, it fits damn well, but I would never peg it having not seen this. (I wonder if some Malfoy fans think you have done some great injustice? Gosh! That'd be somewhat funny!)

Ahaha, I can't get over that.

Although saving copies is good if you totally bugger up and need to go back. I only did that once, a long long time ago, and never finished because it was taking me ages (so perhaps it detered me from the process.) But none the less, it is a pretty good one.

Since I often work in CGIllust, which is basically an OpenCanvas software trial, it doesn't let me save, so I have to copy and paste the drawing to MS Paint every so often. I kind of trained myself to create a folder for each drawing and store the progress files named 1.bmp, 2.bmp, 3.bmp, etc. in there. It helps in case I mess up and have to revert to the previous version. After I am done with the drawing, I just compress all the junk into a single zip/rar and keep the final result. Who knows, maybe I will need it later.

You're right, it does take ages to save each one, but on the other hand I'd rather spend additional 20 minutes than lose a seven-hour work. Have lost too many good drawings during power outages to risk it again.

I'm more afraid of Eminem fans thinking I'd done their idol a great injustice

Ah, still no crackage? Bugger. I have an old old OC program that basically never had a trial at all. (But it's probably got less spiffyness).

I can draw similarities, I've lost more written work than drawn on the computer, and the writen one drives me insane. I have the most unstable computer in the world I think. I have any autosave option set to less than 2 minutes all the time. It's ridiculous.

CTRL S is my friend.

And perhaps they would think so but I doubt they will hear about it.

There is always crackage, but it's buggy and the program is deliberately coded to crash when blacklisted serials are plugged in. Never got a hold of a clean one. Have the old old OC as well and something called Deleter CGIllust which is basically same thing but legal demo. It can copy & paste but not save. Works out alright. I agree about CTRL S, and Alt F S as well.
