Description
I finally finished designing my new OC! I LOVES her.I'll give a more detailed description later, but for now: Slipstream is a pegasus whose talent is diving. There's nothing she loves more than flying up high and then plummeting into a cold ocean, wings locked to her sides. Her wings are modeled after a swallow's (not a seabird, I know, but I love the shape). The patterning on her legs is supposed to be like the patterns you get on the ocean floor when the sun shines through clear water.

Heh -- I was thinking of designing a MLP pegasus pony that used her wings to swim instead of fly (like a penguin or a puffin), and when I started looking around to see if that idea had already been taken, I ended up here. Oops.
Very gorgeous character! I like her design as well as her description. Modelling her wings after a swallow's actually isn't that inappropriate, though -- one of the colloquial names for the tern (a small, oceangoing bird with a sharp beak and narrow wings) is "sea swallow".

Thanks, I'm glad you like her! I know there are seabirds with similar wings to swallows, but they tend to have...hmmm, how do I describe it - more "solid" wings, like those of an albatross, without the soft feathery edges that many land birds' wings have. And I'm a huge fan of soft feathery edges on wings, so I was loathe to make them entirely like a seabird's. I am an unfortunate slave to my own sense of aesthetics

True, but there are very few diving tropical birds, and the ability to dive is what was most important for this character

Oh my gosh, I love her! She's so brilliant. The color scheme is really unique, but it still screams ocean. The patterning on her legs is magnificent. She seems like she's kinda tall, is that intentional?

Thanks! I actually like both tall and slender and short and plump ponies - I just tend to draw really long limbs. She's not supposed to be any larger than a normal pony, though.

Though as a high-dive ocean pony, tall and slender would fit her. I could see her being a few inches above all her friends.

Very interesting color choices! At first glance I thought her legs were geared more towards looking like a turtle's, plus the dark blue background makes it look like she's underwater. I like the concept for her special ability as diving, but There's not a whole lot that I can tie that too from her design (that may just be me though). Maybe if you added some kind of accessory like swimming goggles or one of those swimmer's caps? Again, I love the colors and can't wait to see more of her!

Yeah, I noticed that the patterning made her legs look kind of turtly after the fact, but I like the effect! I plan to give her some accessories, but probably not goggles or a cap - I imagine her more like a diving seabird - her talent is diving, so she doesn't really need things to help her with it.
