Description
You sprawl out lazily on the couch, flipping through TV channels and looking out the window sadly. It’s Christmas and snow hasn’t even fallen yet, the streets are bare of any white. You love the snow and are disappointed that you haven’t seen any of it on this winter holiday. Sighing lightly, you get off the couch and head into the kitchen for some water. You’ve been too lazy to change out of your pajamas since you woke up. Izaya is throwing a Christmas party later tonight at his apartment so you decide you’ll change before you need to leave.

The door to your house suddenly swings open and you drop your glass of water in surprise, luckily in the sink since you were hovering over it. You frantically grab a knife from the drawer and grip it tightly. Swallowing nervously, you hesitantly walk towards the door to confront the burglar head on. You step into the living room to be greeted by the sight of-,

“Shizuo! Goddamn you scared me half to death!” You scream loudly as you see the ex-bartender sitting down on your couch and smoking a cigarette. He looks over to you and blinks slowly, noticing you still have the knife clutched firmly in your hands.

“Why do you have a knife [name]? Is it that weird for you to see me in our house?” You and Shizuo moved in with each other after dating for quite a long time. Although the blonde had a habit of barging into the house randomly to scare you, without meaning to of course. You take a few calming breaths and head back into the kitchen to place the knife back in its proper drawer. After that’s done, you go back to the living room and plop down on the couch with your boyfriend.

“Why are you still in your pajamas? It’s almost 2 right now. Shouldn’t you already have gotten dressed?” You groan and lay down on Shizuo’s lap, lacing your fingers together and stretching them in the air.

“I don’t want to get dressed because I’m depressed. It’s Christmas and there’s no snow at all. I mean, who doesn’t want a white Christmas? Christmas without snow is like you without cigarettes or Shinra without Celty or Masaomi without his flirting or Simon without sushi or Izaya without his observation on humans! It’s just not right!” Shizuo chuckles and gently runs a finger through your soft [hair color] hair.

“I see where you’re going with that. I wish it would snow as well. Make outside a lot easier to look at.” He furrows his eyebrows and growls softly. “Speaking about that bastard flea, do we really have to go to his stupid party tonight? Can’t we just skip it? Or go so I can kill him and then leave?” You burst out laughing and place a hand on Shizuo’s cheek, pushing his face to the left as if you slapped him.

“We are going to that party Shizuo whether you like it or not. Izaya was kind enough to invite us and we are not going to be rude and not attend. Besides, I already have a dress I want to wear for tonight and all the accessories for it.” Shizuo sighs and rubs his temple.

“Technically he only invited you to come. You just insisted you wouldn’t go unless you brought me so he was forced to let me come.” You wave your hand in the air, signaling that the details of the event didn’t matter to you. Shizuo shakes his head and focuses his attention back on the forgotten TV. You close your eyes to rest for a moment before deciding what to do next.

After a little while of watching the news that featured Kasuka’s latest movie, Shizuo glances at the clock near the TV and smiles at the time. He places a hand on your shoulder and shakes you to wake you up from your nap. “[Name] wake up. You fell asleep on me.”

You blink open your eyes and yawn loudly, raising your arms to stretch before flopping them down onto your stomach. “I didn’t even realize I fell asleep. Must be more tired than I thought.” You turn your head to look out the window before huffing in frustration. “It still hasn’t snowed at all. I’m going back to sleep. Wake me up when it snows or it’s time to get ready for the party; whichever comes first.”

“Oh no, you’re not falling back asleep. I have a surprise for you and luckily it’s the right time to give it to you. So get off my lap and go get dressed.” When you make no motion at all to move, Shizuo rolls his eyes and shoves both hands under your back, standing and lifting you up with ease. You feel Shizuo walk to your bedroom and drop you onto the bed with a soft thud.

“You didn’t have to drop me. You could’ve set me down gently or something you ass,” you mutter under your breath as you pull yourself into a sitting position on the plush mattress. Shizuo ignores your comment and opens up your closet, yanking a [favorite color] pea coat and matching scarf off the hangers.

“Ah careful! I don’t want you ripping my clothes like the last time.” Shizuo goes to your dresser and pulls out a pair of dark wash jeans and a white long sleeved shirt. He gathers up all the clothes and sets them down next to you, walking to the door.

“Hurry up and get dressed. We’re leaving in 10 minutes,” the blonde says as he walks out of the room and shuts the door. You hop off the bed and strip off your pajamas, wondering what surprise your boyfriend has in store for you.

You exit your bedroom and see Shizuo is standing by the front door wearing a long white scarf around his neck along with his sunglasses. You scoff and intertwine your fingers into the ex-bartender’s hand as he leads you out of the apartment.

“Sheesh Shizuo is that scarf all you’re going to wear? Aren’t you going to get cold? It’s freezing out here,” you say as you briskly rub your hands together. The cold Ikebukuro air makes you relieved that you had worn long socks under your jeans and put on an extra shirt under the long sleeved one.

“I’m not affected by the cold as much as you are. Besides, I’ll be here to warm you up so don’t worry about being too cold.” He flashes you a smile that makes your heart melt and your cheeks heat up. He takes your hand and wraps his fingers around it tightly, not tight enough to break your bones, but tight enough that you can feel the warmth radiating off his hand. “Come on, we’re going downtown.

You smile happily as you pass by the windows filled with Christmas decorations and signs depicting sales for last minute Christmas gifts. The wind has died down a bit, making the walk around town a bit more bearable. You hold onto Shizuo’s arm and cuddle it, letting out a small content sigh. “What’s my surprise Shizuo? You said you had a surprise for me. Is it just walking around Ikebukuro?” The blonde shakes his head and suddenly stops walking.

“What are we stopping for? Is something the matter?” You see Shizuo place a hand over your eyes, blocking your vision of everyone in downtown. You understand what he means and close your eyes tightly; putting your hand over your eyes to assure your boyfriend you won’t peek. You grip onto his arm as he begins walking again, a tad fearful of tripping over something since you can’t see.

Shizuo stops again after walking for a bit and carefully pulls your hand away from your eyes. “Go ahead and open your eyes [name],” he whispers into your ear, his breath tickling you and making you giggle. You flutter open your eyes before widening them in shock and glee.

In front of Sunshine City stand two large brown horses with bells around their necks attached to a red carriage with white seats, black tires with gold in the middle of them, and gold swirls on the side of the carriage. A couchman dressed warmly in earmuffs, a large coat, a scarf around his neck, and a pair of gloves smiles cheerfully at the two of you and gives you a happy wave.

You shyly wave back and look at Shizuo for an explanation. “Is that for us? It’s beautiful! I mean, I’ve never ridden in one before although I’ve wanted to.” Shizuo puts a hand on your shoulder and gives you a kiss on the cheek.

“I know you’re supposed to have sleigh rides or something in the winter. But since there’s no snow I figured a carriage ride would have to be a good substitute. I hope you like it because it’s pretty damn hard to find these things in Ikebukuro.” He gives out a chuckle and walks you to the ride, lifting you up to sit down on the white seats. He joins you after you’re comfortable and wraps an arm around you.

“Let’s get this thing going already.” The coachman nods and snaps the reigns he’s carrying, making the horses slowly trot forward. You bury your face in the crook of Shizuo’s neck and give him a peck on the lips.

“This is so sweet of you to do for me Shizuo. I’m really enjoying myself.” You laugh quietly and look up at the cloudy sky. “Although I wish it still could’ve snowed.” As soon as the words escape your mouth, you feel something cold and wet touch your cheek. You brush your fingers against your cheek and are surprised to find a small droplet of water on it. You look back up at the sky and squeal in joy when you see white specks falling down.

You excitedly hold out your hand, delighted when the snow melts in your palm. “Shizuo its snow! It’s snowing! I can’t believe it!” Shizuo pulls off his sunglasses and inspects the glass as it becomes filled with snowflakes. He laughs in amusement and pockets the sunglasses, shaking out his hair that’s becoming wet with the snow.

“Would you look at that, snow. Didn’t think it would snow in Ikebukuro but I suppose you call this a Christmas miracle right?” He turns to look at you and beams at your excited expression, leaning close and rubbing his nose against your cheek. The coachman takes the two of you around downtown Ikebukuro for a long while, allowing the snow to quickly build up on the buildings and ground. Finally he stops back in front of Sunshine City and steps off the carriage, going over to the horses to give them a treat.

Shizuo and you remain in the carriage, enjoying the snow fall and each other’s company. You remember how much of a grouch you were this morning and giggle at the memory. “I can’t believe I was sulking so much this morning. All I had to do was be more patient and I would get my snow. Although if you hadn’t dragged me out here when you did, I would’ve missed the beauty and excitement of watching snow fall right before my eyes!” You exclaim in pure delight before snuggling into Shizuo’s chest.

“Thank you for this wonderful sleigh, err, carriage ride today. It was lovely weather for a carriage ride together with you.” You tilt your head up and plant your lips firmly onto Shizuo’s lips. The blonde tangles his fingers into your [hair color] hair, now covered in snowflakes, and presses you close to him with loving gentleness. You pull back and flutter your eyes at your boyfriend before leaning your head against his chest again.

“Merry Christmas Shizuo. I love you. We should get home though to prepare for Izaya’s Christmas party.”

“Do we have to? I’d rather sit here with you and enjoy the snow, not have to be around that damn flea. If we go, I’m killing him and then coming back outside to watch the snow with you.”

“You’re too much Shizuo. Can’t you be civil to Izaya for one day? I mean really, it’s Christmas, a time to put aside differences and make friends with enemies.”

“Until Shinra stops asking to experiment on me and being a freak, I will forever hate on that bastard known as Izaya. Even if it is Christmas.”
