Description
“The several moons following my initial encounter with the strange creature I now know as a human were difficult, to say the least. Many more humans began to venture into the forest, encroaching upon familiar territory and forcing me to stay alert and on the move. I became paranoid, wary of every little noise and always on the lookout for potential danger. After a few further interactions, I came to the realization that these humans were dangerous, sporting sharp, pointed object meant to kill whatever prey the wielder set his sights upon. While this fixation wouldn’t normally have bothered me—many animals in the forest were predators—this time, I was the prey.
“The funny thing about paranoia is that it affects every aspect of one’s life. Trees are enemies, the wind is a ghostly moan, shadows are monsters ready to devour you the moment you fall asleep. Nightmares plagued my unconscious hours to the point that I feared my own mind. So I kept running, restlessly scouting territory and always checking over my shoulders. I knew I couldn’t keep it up forever, though. Already, I felt drained and sleep lurked around every corner ready to catch me off guard.
“After days of running, I finally passed out from exhaustion inside a small cave. I dreamt of having my wings sawed off by a pair of grinning black wolves, their teeth yellow and dripping with saliva. When I woke, my wrists and legs were bound together and I was surrounded on all sides by four humans. I felt something on my wing, and turned my head to realize that another human was cutting my feathers. As soon as I began to struggle, shouts rang out and I was immediately held down as the human finished the job. They all leg go and watched as I thrashed, my wings flapping uselessly as I attempted to fly away. Finally, I was grabbed around the middle and stuffed into a small wooden cage. Panic closed my throat and squeezed tears from my eyes as shadows stared at me from the outside.”

If no one could tell, Columbine got her wings clipped, and she's none too happy about it. I also decided to incorporate her horn glow. In other news, this has been on the back burner for at least a month or two, so I'm glad to FINALLY get this done with a better shading style than in the previous installments in Columbine's story. Also, first successful tears. This is an accomplishment.

Tears are surprisingly tough to draw. Well done! And a very cool character.
