First piece of 2012!There may still be a few tidbits I'm not happy with, but I think I'm done with it.
Full illustration commission for ~nanakixiii84 of her awesome character, Nak.
The lighting for this piece was more difficult for me, only because I made the background much more complex than normal. As such, I had to try and even it out, still not sure about that. I went much more in depth with the background than I normally do for a full illust., but I got carried away.
Photoshop CS5, ~20 hours (?)...need to time these things

Holy God this came out INCREDIBLY! Man your digital art improves, like, every time you post something! It's positively inspiring! I freakin LOVE that stream! I love how pretty and turquoisey it is! It makes the whole piece kind of like a storybook or something! I like how you upped the contrast as well! It looks more like one of those low-light-angle days in the middle of winter. Allllll of those low-light-angle day >__>. Love the tree detail too! All that twisty pretty bark! And the birches! Birches are really hard for me to do for some reason! xD. I love the little winter birds too. Chickadees are, like, my favorite little birds, so I'm glad one got a cameo! The character looks AWESOME, too! Such a lovely dynamic pose with such amazing anatomy and such lovely DETAIL o__o. I love how striking that yellow eye is too. IT really stands out! Mmph I MUST commission you for something like this sometime! It's AMAZING! Awesome job! <3333

Wow, thank you very much, hun! I really like how the eye stands out. It's a different way I tried coloring it. I had some great help with contrast and lighting work from ~aboveClouds They helped me get things rounded with lighting since I'm still just dipping into all that contrast jazz.

Well well this is an eye-boggler...Seriously, I can't look away. Way too cool, love. The texture of this piece just jumps right off the page and I love the color scheme. However, I do have to wonder how cold that wolf's paws are going to be if he missed the jump over that stream...Anyway, this is truly one to be proud of!!!

Not a problem, much better than I. I think I am going to get better at people before I actually try good backgrounds. If I am looking at either I am fine and can replicate what I am seeing but doing such things from memory not so much.
