Description
"Long Tooth! Help me!"

A screech sounded from behind the sabre, and he whipped around to see Owl Call sprawled on his flank. Kuruk, the Pack's Alpha, had him pinned down and jaws tightly gripping the mountain cat's throat. Blood stained the snow and Owl Call struggled desperately under the Alpha, his efforts growing weaker as the blood poured from his neck.

Long Tooth didn't have a moment to think before he lunged for the Alpha. His only instinct was to save his friend. He landed square on Kuruk's back and dug his long claws into the Alpha's shoulders. The golden wolf beneath him howled in pain, before rearing back to try and throw off the sabre. Long Tooth, frenzied with fear for his friend, lunged forward and sank his teeth into Kuruk's shoulder.

A terrible, agonized wail came from the Alpha's throat as he staggered, blood spilling from the wound. A powerful weight crashed into Long Tooth's side, and he was thrown from the Alpha's back. He heard the thump of snow as the Alpha collapsed, and felt a pair of strong paws pin him down. Long Tooth blinked the ice crystals from his eyes to see Bear Claw snarling at him, teeth bared and stained with blood.

"What have you done?!" Bear Claw screeched, almost touching Long Tooth's nose with his own as he glared down at the sabre, eyes blazing with fury. "You attacked your Alpha!"

Long Tooth, shocked by Bear Claw's rage, struggled under the wolf's grasp. "I-I... I didn't-"

"You've betrayed us! You attacked your Alpha to save the life of one of the Pride!" Bear Claw's voice was barely more than a whisper as he snarled, shaking with the effort of controlling himself. "You're a traitor, Long Tooth. You betrayed your Pack. I never want to see your face ever again."

Long Tooth, hot with shame and despair, gazed helplessly up at the wolf who had once been his best friend. "Bear Claw, I'm s-"

"Leave!" Bear Claw snapped in Long Tooth's face, before releasing his grip on the sabre and stepping to the side. "Leave, now."

Long Tooth heaved himself to his paws, stealing a glance at the Alpha. He had no idea if Kuruk was even still alive. Gazing around, he met the eyes of the wolves that had once been his family. They snarled with hatred, inching towards him slowly. Long Tooth backed slowly away, but before he could turn and pelt into the forest, Bear Claw growled again.

"If I ever see you again, Long Tooth, I'll kill you myself."
