Gasp! No textures this time as a change of pace! And also lighter and more different colours than what I've been using lately.I tried to challenge myself with a pose I'm not normally comfortable with. I think I did better than I thought I would, though that right hind leg looks like it's not quite in the right position... o_O
But uh... yes! It also has some fancy glyph thing hovering over its back to make it look more *magical* or something. The glyph circle thing was originally around its face, but it looked distracting there, so I moved it.

what did you use to draw this? if sai then im killing myself. CUZ I FRICKING CANT GET SMOOTH LINES EVEN IF I USE S-7 ON EVERYTHING.

Ahaha, actually I'm pretty strictly a Photoshop person, though I know Sai is capable of some pretty awesome line quality! But if it makes you feel any better, I dug into the old PSD for this 'cause I wanted to see what my line process was, and this is what the lines look like at 100% zoom: sta.sh/0br7dff9a5j
Lol, they're kind of wobbly close up but when you shrink the image to like 25% of the original size, that wobble just blurs away. When I did the tail though, I used the pen tool since I was no good at drawing looooooong long strokes smoothly. But these days I mostly just try to use quick sweeping arm movements (hitting Undo a lot until I get what I want, lol) and often enjoy using softer textured brushes that hide my hand's jitteriness better even at 100% zoom. :'D
Though I should really condition myself out of using the softer brushes so much because I keep making semi-transparent lines that make it hard to conceal the edge of the flat colours underneath... o_O

You did an exceptional job with this, especially pushing yourself to a more uncomfortable area, which is always the hardest to do! Beautiful work with this and i honestly don't think the hind leg looks odd ^-^ I love the work on the wings...faving!
