Yeah, interestingly enough a similar case is in PokΓ©mon Platinum, third Gym as well. I won't spoil anything, but it involves a lot more than just catching something.

Yup, not so much different Gym Leader but different order. And at that point in the game there is only ONE PokΓ©mon that can be obtained having a resistance to the Gym type at that point.

Ah okay XD yeah, at least the Poketch makes evolving Eevee less ardous =w= and yeah, DON'T evolve it into Espeon, unless you want things to be harder for you. Geez, it would have been easier for them to have allowed you to catch Poochyena or something..
