Description
Since I'm not able to go train this week, I decided to do a pic of it to at least somehow keep it in mind X3So here is Rai in our basic training outfit :3 It involves white T-shirt and black pants. No belt necessary. The logo I copied from the T-shirt ^^
So, some of you may know already, but I train Tai Shin Mun AKA Monkey Kung Fun :3 (If you have heard the style been called bit differently, don't worry. My master said there are as many ways to write the name as there are schools XD)
Oh, and in case someone will ask, I have black belt, which means a normal trainer. Blue is for vice-teacher and red is for teacher.
Do you guys train any martial art? 83 If you do/did, what was it? ^^

This is incredibly cool! It reminds me of the movie Kung Fu Panda for some reason...but either way it's still insanely cool!
Btw I'm self teaching myself Tai Chi...it's not easy, and I wish I could get some formal lessons.

Best movie with the best stars EVER! I hear there is going to be a sequel.
Yeah, its simple, but effective...but still wish I could really afford formal training with a master...but private training is a bit more well...private!

It is a great one! ^o^ Sequels just have the problem that if they didn't plan the sequel in the first place, they tend to be lame shadows of the original that are made just to squeeze some more money with the theme <:3
Private training is great ^^ You will learn really much~

I took one called Kempo for a couple of days, but wasn't really interested in continuing with it. It wasn't my style, as the teacher specifically stated that very few of Kempo's moves were not meant to kill or seriously injure your opponent.

Yeah, I know <:3 That is the point in most martial arts that art not sport versions. In Bujinkan too, most techinques ended up with breaking opponents arm, leg or neck X3

I don't remember much, besides learning how to block, punch and kick...
I think i got a white belt? Not sure what that ment lol

Karate seems to be very popular ^^ Not that I am surprised though X3
White belt usually is the lowest grade, meaning someone who is on the basic course and not a full member of the group still :3

I go to Karate Do, the style I practice is called Goyu-Ryu. I began to train in late 2005.
However, I have decreased my rythm a lot since a year ago, not because a lack of interest but because I lack time so now I only practice casually (:

FireRai In reply to LeonSwiftstorm [2009-09-11 07:23:18 +0000 UTC]
Niiice~~ n.n Is Goyu-Ryu more sport Karate or Traditional? =3 Meaning, does it have competitions or is it completely about fighting?
I see :/ I used to Train Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu (formerly called Ninjutsu), but I kinda lost interest to that and haven't gone there for 3 years Now I had a summer break on Kung Fu too and trying to get along to the normal training pace again ^^
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
LeonSwiftstorm In reply to FireRai [2009-09-12 19:32:35 +0000 UTC]
Goyu-Ryu is more a traditional style, but recently is has followed some few sport oriented trends like competitions, hopefully its philosophy has not changed that much since competitions aren't very common anyway and we focus more in traditional training ^^
I think that's why I disliked Tae Kwon Do. Is not really bad, but the masters I had...well, seemingly they cared more about competitions and money rather than about discipline. I could be wrong but that's the impression I got when I was there and I lost interest
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
FireRai In reply to LeonSwiftstorm [2009-09-12 20:20:16 +0000 UTC]
Good ^^ Traditional styles are always better in my opinion, since sport styles trade efficiency in safety for matches. There are no rules in real situation and that is the cold fact <:3
Yeah, few of my friends used to train Taek Won Do and quit for pretty much same reasons -.- No offence to trainers, but that is 100% sport art
