YEY FOR PHOTO MANIP!ok well this is only my 3rd uploaded photo maniped pic on DA, and im a newbie, but i think this turned out REALLY well!
im really proud of myself!

it's nice, great idea an all, however it's quite obvious it's manipulated since the original texture of the eye seems to be missing/lacking/covered. With some more work you could get a lovely lacquered effect that would make it much more realistic. Mostly likely there would be an onyx black nearer the corners of the eye, which would help with the contrast and lacquer effect.
For a 'Newbie' to graphic design you have done a fairly good job.
Another tip when cut out areas with the select tool. Try to be as accurate as you can so that once you've removed the unneeded area you don't have to feather or blur the edge you've just made. that way it looks make crisper.

really it's just a matter of point and click. but you want to be able to see in depth what you are selecting and also from a distance. There are also tools you should learn to use that then allow you to blend the cut into the new picture so it looks natural. Practice makes perfect I suppose.
