is a trendsetter! XD She made an Inuyasha piece called "Kagome Is", which is not only well-drawn and funny, but supports one of my favorite things--canon. Firestar loves canon and will always support that which is ACTUALLY IN CHARACTER. Anyway, the idea was contagious and other artists made similar pieces for other Inuyasha characters. Eventually, it spread to other fandoms, such as Metroid and The Phantom of the Opera. I believe is doing a Danny Phantom piece, and she was nice enough to point me in the direction of 's "Character Is" journal, where she graciously leaves the project open to anyone who wants to participate. That can be found here: [link]So here's my "Sam Is" piece. I think Sam is a really cool character, so hooray for her. I also think canon is awesome. Hooray for canon! *throws confetti*.
This was done in a B pencil and colored on Photoshop Elements, and it seemed to take forever, but Firestar had plenty of time this week to work on it, since she now is distinctly lacking a job. XD
Thanks to for opening her project and giving me permission to do this, and thanks to for bringing it to my attention! Hooray for cool people. XD

As long as all is forgiven and I can control myself rather than make fun of characters...

Very cute. But for the record, Sam does get mushy over Danny Phantom (See "Fanning The Flames" for proof). She's just a little more subtle about it.

I wouldn't call it "mushy". I found it rather realistic in terms of an actual crush--hence, the subtlety. It's easy to be obsessed with something and far more difficult to actually care about it.

I love canon. I like the story just the way the creator wrote it. I'll happily strike a blow for everyone like me who doesn't want to read about beautiful Sues who turn the canon characters into drooling, girlwatching, daydreaming assmonkeys. *chuckles.*

I have seen very, very few "original characters" in DP fanwork. Most of them have just been the author or the artist running around in an animation suit. Someone once called me a "canon samurai", and I'm happy to accept the title. I don't want to read about beautiful Sues who show up in the canonverse without so much as a passport or traveler's cheques and just ruin everything with their startling hair and eye colors and the same powers as the canon hero, bewitching everyone with their heartstopping beauty or their plus-ten studliness.

Not if it's a Sam-bashing story where she dies so some rabid fangirl can steal Danny from her, as if he would actually appreciate that--then no, not funny.
If it's some kind of plot device meant to put Danny in a position of angst, that is different, but still not canon--I doubt Mr. Hartman would write one of his major characters dying. What does that add to the story?

Yes still cannon. I like Sam, She's cool ^^ The story starts out with Sam and Danny at their school dance and it's a romantic chapter then the next skips and she dies and the next three chapters are Danny morning and such.

If you're asking about the dress she sewed in EoB, I'm very impressed that you remember it, but no, the dress she sewed is modeled after a dress I own and wore to my sister's twentieth birthday ball. The dress in that panel, I just sort of made it up.

More than you could possibly believe, mate! *chuckles.* I can't stand it when people ruin Sam and write or draw her out of character. I also can't stand it when people bash her. Just like Danny, Tucker, Jazz, Maddie, Jack and all the other characters, she's amazing and Mr. Hartman created her with a lot of care. Why would anyone ruin that or complain about it? Boggles my mind, really.

Yeah, there's hardly characters, especially female ones, that are so rebellious. I mean it gets old when a character is striving to become more popular amongst his/ her peers at school. It really annoys me every time I see that in shows.
Sam's different. She doesn't want to become popular, she doesn't care! And that's one of my favorite parts about her. She can be pretty refreshing.And I just love her for that.

One of my favorite things about her is that she loves her friends just as they are, and wants to be loved just as she is--not for her money or the way she dresses or her causes. That's rare and wonderful.

Excellent point, mate. Thankfully, I've not seen much fanart or fiction with Sam as a lesbian--mostly I've seen her treated unfairly and harshly by mean anti-Sam fangirls. But you're definitely right about the fact that she is not a lesbian and would not date Paulina. There's only so many squares *chuckles.* Many people have suggested things--enough for a second piece should I ever want one!
