The paper texture is nice, it compliments the texture of the drawing and can do well for background filling, but I don't think it's the best when you are pushing so much light dodge like sketchy fireballs touched up with colour dodge.
This work seems rather detail oriented. You're on a good path with the anatomy and things seem mostly proportional, though the face is a bit skewed for the angle it's in and the body turned out a little rigid.
I recommend you pick up on gesture drawing, generally quick sketches that illustrate the fluidity of the body. I can see you are more of a technical draftsman which would explain a lack in such motions, I would know, that's what my husband is like.

It could have been nice if the lighting/shading was worked on a little more, to smooth out the texture of the illustration for the sake of the texture that's represented, it can get tricky to work a balance between the details, likely why I like the paint sketch style. So don't stop here, there is so much to explore, tackle on and practice. You can go a long ways.
