Description
This is Homer, one of our two dachshunds, laying in the hot sun over the summer on our warm back porch. As you can tell...he was barely awake
We rescued him from a woman who got another dog, a puppy, and didn't want him anymore. She was going to take him to the pound to be put down when my mom heard about this, she said "No way, you can't do that, I'll take him".
He was abused by her children and husband who beat him, teased him horribly, and kept him in a cage nearly all of his life except to eat and to go outside. When we got him, he was extremely skinny and bony, really quite ugly, afraid of people and wanted nothing more than to be left alone.
Now he's a little fat dog who has filled out beautifully

cool my dad got his 2 dachshunds from his boss and i am the pitbull owner and my dad's dachshunds hate me and love me when visit him on the weekends i take my pitbull with me to his house and the 2 dachshunds bit my pitbull in the face and in the paws and i looked up information about them on a pet site they said dachshunds have mean attitudes and not a good pet family pet
they have also bit me to were had to get stitches

I believe it though. They actually are very good little dogs and make wonderful companions, but I think you need to have them from the time they were puppies so they really know you, the house, family, friends and just..everything.
We have two dachshunds, this one an abused rescue as it says in the description and our other we have had since she was maybe a month or so old; she has never known anyone but us and rarely snaps at us or bites us. She has her days (they're naturally nippy little dogs and they can be mean because they were bred to burrow into holes and hunt badgers which are also mean) where she snips but it's never hard enough to break skin, just a warning to "please get away".
The best you can do is give your dads dachshunds their space and respect them when they ask for it. Try your best to keep your dog away from them or better yet don't bring your dog along as it seems that none of them get along.
