Description
The crossover train keeps rollin' with K. Rool and Neo Cortex engaging in their usual chicanery like plotting against each other, skulking in the shadows, and undoubtedly running through a prepared, self-important inner monologue. (Sigh) No rest for the
wicked, it seems.
As far as large evil reptiles go, I like K. Rool a bit better than Mario's Bowser, and in my opinion, Cortex was the star of the Crash
games developed by Traveler's Tales.
My designs didn't deviate too much from the originals, but I wish I'd given Cortex more of that crazed look he had in Crash
Twinsanity. This is my first time drawing a cartoon alligator, and I'm really digging the way the King turned out (even though
he's probably a crocodile).

A Dk and Crash Bandicoot crossover would actually work pretty well.

Definitely.
Playing as Donkey, Diddy, Crash and Coco (maybe add Dixie and Crunch)
Having both co-op play with Aku Aku for Invincibility
Collecting both Wumpa (lives) and Bananas (special moves)
Collecting Gems and Special Coins as well as Relics and Crystal Coconuts for bonuses.
Traveling through various themed worlds that have a new rendition of a DK or Crash theme. Maybe bring David Wise, Grant Kirkhope and Josh Mancell for new tunes
Also bosses from Crash and DK (probably use the Kremlings from Barrel Blast for a 2 on 2 or 2 on 1 fight depending on your status)
And maybe a Party mode to play as these guys and maybe more.

Yeah, both series would definitely mesh together, seeing as they both have anthropomorphic characters in them, as well as wacky hijinks that ensue in them.

Agreed. I can imagine the various themed levels including both 2D and 3D gameplay. Taking elements from both series, possible cutscenes like in Crash 3 as well as different bonus stages to get cool stuff.

I could see Krusha and Tiny Tiger just arm wrestling in the middle of the jungle or something.

Maybe have that as a background element whether it be a stage or cutscene. But that's something people would love to see.

Yep. I think there could also be some boss fights where two characters from bith series team up to fight the DK Crew and Crash and friends, if Dr. Cortex and King. K Rool team up of course.

Same. I can see some team ups as well as something like say N. Gin piloting a mech modeled after the Queen B. or King Zing bosses or a new version of KAOS powered by both Dixie and Fake Crash and it has moves from both DKC3 and Crash 2's N. Gin.
Also animal buddies like riding on Rambi and Espresso as well as transforming into Polar and Pura for certain levels. Maybe even a silly cameo involving a crossover between Mario and Spyro.

Daaayem, that is probably the best K. Rool I have ever seen. The detail on his bulging eye is just perfection. I love the contrast between the two characters and how Cortex is dwarfed by this crazed, scheming alligator while at the same time possessing his own menace by exuding confidence and intellect.
Nice touch on the drool and the overall hunched over pose too!
I have to wonder though...how long will it take for the two of them to try to betray one another? Villain team ups seem to fail spectacularly in that way, it seems.

Thanks and glad you like it! Had a lot of fun with these crossovers and was even writing
a rough draft for a Donkey Crash Country comic that I really need to get back to.

Nice work and great job putting this idea together. I was sorta "in-and-out" of the Mario franchise (thank my interest in SEGA for that), but I did grow to appreciate Cortex in the Crash games, particularly in Twinsanity, CTTR, and -maybe- CotT.

Thanks for the comment! Cortex really grew as a character there for a while, but then they took a different route
with the humor entirely, so he wasn't quite the same in the Titans series.

Yeah, I agree with you on Cortex being out of character in CotT.

I also like KKR better than Bowser. Bowser is a good villain, but in the last games he was more of a joke, than an actually bad guy.Ā

The morbid detail of these characters is simply remarkable!
King K. Rool has such a disgusting, yet fearsome visage, and Cortex looks sinister and equally dangerous, despite him being less than a quarter of the size of K. Rool.
Of course they're not this terrifying in the games, but it doesn't hurt to go nuts with portraying their villainous natures.

FischHead In reply to The-Quill-Warrior [2014-06-14 23:27:52 +0000 UTC]
Thanks, and yeah, I might have gone a bit overboard on the detail with these guys.
The dark atmosphere doesn't really jive with the other pieces in this series, plus their
designs aren't as cartoonish as the other characters. With the way he's hunched over,
K. Rool almost reminds me of the Skeksis from the Dark Crystal. This was fun, but in the
future, they should probably be a little less threatening.

The-Quill-Warrior In reply to FischHead [2014-06-15 00:19:11 +0000 UTC]
Nothing wrong with how overboard the dark atmosphere is.
If anything, the over-exaggeration of their detail in contrast with their goofy personalities is in itself humorous and goofy.

I always thought K.Rool was a great villain! He always changed things up with different personas and evil plots. I wish Nintendo would bring him back and actually do it correctly. Cortex was also a good bad guy- my sister and I would die laughing at the mention of his name when we were kids!
I really like how you've drawn the two of them here! Epic crossover!

Thanks! I actually lost interest in the new Donkey Kong games because there weren't any Kremlings to fight.
And before the writers had a bunch of memes to fall back on, Cortex was genuinely funny and a perfect contrast to
Crash.

I like K. Rool better than Bowser, too. In fact, I happen to think the latter's extremely overrated.

FischHead In reply to SolarBlaze [2014-06-13 22:57:26 +0000 UTC]
Well, to attain mass appeal you've pretty much gotta be overrated. Bowser's not a bad villain or anything,
he just hogs the spotlight through his association with the Mario franchise, which itself is what's truly over-
rated.

SolarBlaze In reply to FischHead [2014-06-14 00:11:08 +0000 UTC]
I don't know about about anyone else, but in addition to him hogging the spotlight, I actually think he is a lame villain. He's good as an anti-hero, I'll give him that, but as a villain, he's complete garbage.
