HA! you guys thought I forgot about the Kompendium, didn't you? This is the last drawing I was working on before I got burned out months ago, so I just put the finishing touches on it, and voila!Kutlass was exclusive to DKC2, but his design looks like the inspiration for Kopter in DKC3. This little guy couldn't be attacked head on. Instead, you had to wait for him to get his swords stuck in the ground before you could bop him on the head. There is also a green version of Kutlass who was faster than the yellow one.
I've been playing One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 lately, so I decided to give him a red vest in this illustration as a small reference to Luffy. I also tried giving him a third sword as a Zoro homage, but that just didn't work out.

Seeing him struggle with the swords was always cute in a way. Unless he was one of those stronger-armed green ones. Quite a rude surprise when you first see them unless you know the "different color, different behavior" rule of older video games.

That old school color coding is something that's woefully lacking in DKC Tropical Freeze. The Kremling designs generally used bright, noticeable color schemes/ variations while the Snowmads all look like the same guy.

Yeah; it's the oversized swords, but also the oversized eyes, and it all just makes him adorable. Then add in the fact that he actively tries to hack you down (instead of just running through you like a bumbling idiot), and you've got a cute, homicidal kremling that fits perfectly into DKC2.
