The mobile suit that was rebuilt to become the imposing "Demon" unit was originally the prototype for the OZ-08MMS "Cancer". The unit was designed as an amphibious troop transport suit, and despite its large frame and thick armor, had little to no offensive capabilities. When the unwanted suit was sent up to the Demon Squad base, there was a fair bit of confusion as to how they'd use a submersible suit in outer space. Commander Seishou saw that once its aquatic trappings were stripped away the suit's inner frame would be the perfect base for his personal mobile suit, and after untold modifications and enhancements, the Demon was ready to start tearing up the competition.
