Description
At the time of my visit to the Azelf cave in Sinnoh’s Lake Valor,an archeology expedition was underway. Unfortunately, I was not
notified beforehand and therefore unable to participate as a collaborative
biology specialist. However, the men and women participating
actually found a small “graveyard” of Azelf. The bone mass
seems to be assembled as an extension of the shrine. The
biologists are presently working on a paper explaining the
lizard’s mouth biota. The teeth [in the bone structure] had traces of bacteria
unique to Azelf. They will release their studies as soon
as they get a mouth culture from a live specimen. Studies show the
bacteria interact uniquely with the human body’s [proteins]. The
combined enzymes inhibit the Cingulate Gyrus (a vital part of the brain that allows
experience-based learning) causing over-reactiveness and argumentative behavior (counter-
intuitive to the myths).
From what I have seen this small lizard is extremely wiry. Azelf will stand its ground
against much larger aggressors using its head’s frills. For added effect, if the threat still
persists, Azelf will leap up and flash its wing extensions (the “tails”). As a final resort,
it will unleash a powerful Uproar and attack without relent. This hostile
behavior is bad news for tourists who find the frills and jumping “cute.” On the plus/
down-side, there was only one Azelf in the cave the entire day; as most of them already
left for Spear Pillar. (As a future note, group tours with people who are unexperienced with
Pokémon are a bad idea. Privately scheduled tours are definitely the way to go
if I am ever to do this sort of thing again.)
The cave Azelf roost in is surprisingly well-lit. Sunlight diffuses through the thin cave ceiling and is
refracted by the columns, making it seem like the rocks themselves cast the glow. Azelf roost in the cave
at night. However, it is drastically smaller than the Uxie and Mesprit [caverns]. The position under
Lake Valor makes for large [stalactites], stalagmites, and [columns], making the small space more cramped.
Marks of Willpower are used as posts to show the way to the wood and bone shrine. The marks
vary in style in different parts of the cave, as if multiple people made them.
Despite the way Azelf looks, it does not actually have the capability to fly. It can only
glide form place to place, however, it seems its heightened psychic abilities
allow it to create small air current just enough to allow perpetual
“flight.” (Handy for navigating the small cavern because it’s nearly
impossible for Azelf to hit an obstacle without meaning to. ) --Inkberry
Wow. The only thing that I made not originally digital was the lineart for Azelf. It looks... really... cool...
I didn't know what to make of this guy at first, then the whole willpower thing got me thinking of this frilled lizard I saw in a Australian wildlife documentary (it opened its frills and literally ran over the camera man). I think this is a pretty good fit.

I really like the thought and effort and everything that was put into this. The concept, too, even though it is somewhat controversial, is actually appealing to me.
However, the wings irk me; probably for reasons obvious.
Do you think, scientifically speaking, it'd make sense if you drew it with translucent wings, at all?
BTW, I've liked this series for the past ten minutes I've been looking at it.
Expect a new watcher!

I completely agree about the design of the wings. (That's what happens when one does not use references.) I did not think of making the wings translucent until after I submitted it. Scientifically speaking, it could also have wings that glowed to intimidate predators/foes or flushed to attract mates.
If I were to redo the design, it would be a combination of a frilled lizard and one (or more-ish) of the following:
flying dragon/gliding lizards (genus Draco ), flying/parachute geckos (genus Ptychozoon ), ancient flying reptiles (genus Sharoviperyx is the most unique, Coelurosauravus and many other genus of extinct gliding lizards ), the extinct flying dinosaur: Yi qi ( genus Yi , there was only one known fossil discovered of this and it was hypothesized to have a membranous wing like a bat), and, finally, flying/gliding snakes (genus Chrysopelea , because they're cool).
Thank you for your kind words and support!
