Description
Spirit Guardians watch over us,As they carry our souls into the skies,
They fly high as our breath is lost,
And returns to the ghost of the earth.
Time: Over the course of a day.
Tools: Pencil crayon (coloured pencils). The sky was done digitally.

**NOTE**
I agree with those who say the tail is too short
I wish I could fix it, but it's pencil crayon. Plus I don't have any good software tools to help me fix it.And for those of you who are wondering...that is an ANTLER

ravens are great. that whole family of birds, stealing what's shiny. nice. this is really good for colored pencils especially. are they watercolor pencils, pastel, or just run-of-the-mill ones? that you produced a sense of depth of field with them is impressive.

Thank you very much! I appreciate your comment. There are such things as watercolour pencil crayons? O.o I just use run-of-the-mill...stuff kids use XD I have mostly crayola. I used to have prismacolours when I was 8, but my sister took them back -_- So I make due with what I've got

I love this. It looks like it should be posted on a book cover or illustartion for a book. Very nice, good job on the sky making it look drawn by hand also.

With: I agree with various other comments. It does look very much like paint. You achieve some wonderful colours with your pencils. The caption is lovely and meaningful. (I know I've heard something of the sort about ravens before.) The detail and use of green on the wings is absolutely gorgeous. The raven is very majestic indeed, and though it would have been moreso if the tail was longer, it's probably not that big a deal. The sky is beautiful, though sunrise/set where it's more warm colours, oranges and reds(?), might have done it more justice. (That's purely my opinion, though it would make lovely contrast with the green of the feathers.) I love the piece of jewelery it's got there, it's very fitting and symbolic. What doesn't look right to me is the ground. ...Not the paper, of course, but the earth of the image. The grass, branch and flowers(?). They look so much less realistic compared to not only the raven, but the sky as well, and take from the unity of the piece. ...I shouldn't talk with all my lack of backgrounds, but yeah. In itself, the ground would look fine, but with the rest of the drawing it just seems a little out of place. Erm... I'll shut up ._.;;

That's...not a branch. it's an antler XD The beige didn't work as a colour because it was dirty, so I had to darken it. Otherwise, it would have looked a bit more realistic. I have crap tools -_-
And I never do grass so I just wing it. I like it anyway ^^ Thanks so much I wasn't expecting a comment from you

Mm. I didn't think it was one, it was just the first thing that came to mind with that general shape. Definitely makes a better antler than branch X3;; But with those crap-tools you pulled off the raven itself o.O;; They can't be quite as bad as you're giving them credit for =3
I'm debating about going back and faving it, actually XD It's a beautiful piece, I just can't stand saying only a word of two about art ._. I don't comment much because of it though. I don't have half a mind to say that to every piece I get in my deviantwatch box and then some @_@;;

Yeah. Sorry for the critique-ish comment on the discouraged status ._.;; I don't pick the ones that stand out to comment on, I pick the ones I have something to say to =3 The ones that stand out and really get to me don't always get comments ._.;; depends on the piece.

That's alright ^^. A couple others have done that (although by accident, they didn't see the X) and even then, the critique was very minimal. About one or two things that they say are 'a tad, but it doesn't hinder the piece too much'.
I know! Whenever I come home from work, I always get more messages that I expect. Thank goodness I have a subscription now, otherwise my poor browser would die O.O

I did see it, I knew it was there... I just... y'know... started digging because I thought there was treasure or something. I tried to put as much logic and reason behind it as I could, and be polite saying it
