I've been watching a lot of Gravity Falls and Wander Over Yander, and the more I watch it, the more I'm inspired by the simplest but most unique designs. Not to mention, both series feature a main character with a single eye... and no mouth... and every time they appear it makes me wonder what I could do with such a character.

So I got to sketching out random creatures with one eye and came up with this creature. I was thinking shapeshifter at first... but then I started thinking about Bill Cypher and I decided... better make it Dreamshifter.

Now, they're definately not the same species. At. All. Not even 'related'. For one, Russel does not need a vessel to expirience the 'real' world to the full. He is himself... but he is made of a tangible energy that allows him to pass into one 'layer' of the universe to another. From reality to fantasy, from thoughts and emotions, to even different 'mini-dimensions' within one single dimension. He cannot, however, pass between full dimensions.

Think Q, from Star Trek or Discord from MLP - he has some power over reality verses fantasy; not quite to that extent, but similar. Mostly, he's a 'gatekeeper' of sorts between the two key 'layers'.

I keep saying 'he', but in actuality he is an 'it'. Russel has no gender. He also has no sexuality, no race, and no real boundary to classify him at all. Even the title Russel is only a nickname... most just call him Dream or Dreamshifter. He has no official name. From what is known, he's the only one of his kind, and can only ever be the only one of his kind. He also appears to be immortal and almost omniscient. He cannot see the precise future, but he can see many possible outcomes for it.

Often times he tags along with someone and watches over them in particular until they pass or he can no longer do so (for any reason), which has also eared him the title Guardian or Dreamwatcher.

His most 'complete' form is the image on the lower right. Although he can take the form of any other animal or human, most of the time he choses not to, as it takes considerable energy. His complete form is the only one he can remain in while in 'reality'. In any other 'layer', he can also shift between 'whisp' phase and 'ghost' phase, shown on the left and top right.

Although he can speak, most of the time he stays silent or sends signs to those he wants to communcate with. Nobody really knows why he does this... but it is the way he prefers to 'talk'.

So... is he a good idea or...??
I kinda really love him.
