Well, if he's a magician's apprentice, maybe the planets? He may use big gorgeous marbles as practice orbs before he graduates to being a really wizzy wizard. You know, in case he drops one of them and causes Saturn to crash into Mars Or maybe sweets. He can eat them afterwards, whereas eating the plants or marbles might give him indigestion as he's still quite inexperienced.

love the idea of graduating to the planets ! Conjures up wonderful images. To be a really wizzy wizard in the art of planet juggling he would have to practice on all sphere shapes, and obviously get over the need to eat them all (so he shouldn't get sweets
non edible only)

Saucers, balloons filled with heavy thoughts so they won't fly away, folded up hedgehogs (ouch!), cannon balls, big glass eyes and muffins made from plaster of Paris and sneezing powder.

......interesting..... ...maybe hes at stage one of the "learning to juggle live animals" lesson. All larger creatures must have legs tucked in and be prepared for a bumpy ride!!!
Final exams would involve a variety of animals juggled at the same time. eg. sheep, frog, salamander(slippery factor), lion (obviously anger issues), and bee ( issues with bee would involve size and stinging possibility)

Oh, bees, especially big bumbles, sound very interesting! You should do a pic of him juggling bumbles.
