After watching Life of Pi last night I have a whole new perspective on what he might be thinking! The pirate seems lost in some train of thought, or maybe he's just lost. The cat seems very much intellectually present and the way it's looking at the pirate I feel that it has some rather acid drop type commentary it's keeping to itself - for now. The cat is probably bored with reading the news on all the pirate boat panels. Maybe he has taken to reading the pirate's mind instead.
