Description ladybug eggs.

The more time I spend outside with the macro lens, the more I realise just how much we miss. Forget rush hour traffic, there's a whole other world operating beneath our feet.

I can honestly say I've never seen ladybug eggs before. Very cool. This must be really tiny considering how tiny ladybugs are.

The prettiest aspect is how the leaf seems to be cradling the eggs, like a gentle hand. Offering it up to the sunlight.

people always laugh at me when I tell them that there is a beautiful world out there, and that we actually do not have to search far for it.
apart from the message you gave with it, I must admit that I have always loved ladybugs, ever since I was a toddler I would spend hours searching for them =] despite my obsession with the insects, I have actually never seen eggs

I love the colours and focus, nice macro photography ^^

You know, I love that you are finally posting some new art and you certainly have an eye for design and suchlike. I would love to see you try more angles, more crop options etc, but otherwise this is a wonderful image- the bright green is a great contrast for the orange colours.

Thank you for sharing

Since your comment on my ladybug photo I've been experimenting a lot more with cropping, 1,200 OR YOU was a 1:1 crop for instance, and there are more to come.

I tend to try compose them in-camera, so the thought of cropping comes with some resistance. In this case specifically I don't want to lose the white-space as it emphasises the smallness of the eggs.

Thank you for continuing to share you honest thoughts, I really appreciate it

bluem00n In reply to fkinghost [2008-08-21 07:49:30 +0000 UTC]

yeah I completely understand and I'm much the same, but since we can't all own a 1:1 format I allow myself to play around with it outside the camera.. it would amount to the same thing as taking your developed photo and cutting it so it would fit into a frame at least in my opinion

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

fkinghost In reply to bluem00n [2008-08-22 02:56:47 +0000 UTC]

oh, yeah - I don't have some obsession with staying pure to the original photo I only meant that most of the time I compose the frame in camera, and so cropping wont add anything, or at least it doesn't occur to me to try cropping.

Aw they're so cuteee! I love the colors, but my favorite part is the top edge of that leaf.

fkinghost In reply to Rahxy [2008-08-20 10:17:03 +0000 UTC]

S'what I love about macro photography, it's like a whole new level of detail down there. Like... I dunno, a progressive jpeg, or the way a fractal reveals more complexity as you dive in.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Rahxy In reply to fkinghost [2008-08-20 11:09:04 +0000 UTC]

Exactly! And I love the way that macro photography makes you look at the world once you get interested in it. The most seemingly bland and unimportant things in the world turn into favorite subjects.

I've noticed even my 10/11 year old sister is getting into macro photography now. She's learning to use the "flower button" on the cameras.

I keep forgetting to put the settings back to 'auto' on my dads camera though, and he keeps taking pictures of things that are totally out of focus because of it. Bad Rahxy. :<

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

fkinghost In reply to Rahxy [2008-08-20 14:10:09 +0000 UTC]

Right, that's something else I've been thinking - kids already see the macro world, they live in it, what with their faces down there all the time. They'd have an eye for this sort of thing naturally, so it's awesome to hear your sister is already getting into it

...and I'd do the same thing with the family cameras. I became this sort of tainted soul, "aarh, Nick was using the camera agaaaain! How do I change it back!?"

Rahxy In reply to fkinghost [2008-08-20 14:16:18 +0000 UTC]

I always thought it'd be interesting to give a kid a camera and see what they'd take pictures of. Of course an adult would be there to help them and make sure they don't destroy it, butyeah that'd be a need project to do.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

fkinghost In reply to Rahxy [2008-08-20 14:32:35 +0000 UTC]

I have seen a few projects like this, usually cheap disposable cameras are given to children who wouldn't otherwise have access to a camera - like in third-world countries and poverty stricken societies. I came across one a year or three ago, but I can't seem to track that specific one. I did find kids with cameras after a quick search though (pick a city from the menu on the left to browse their photos.)

There's some pretty poignant stuff in there, these kids are like... pure unbiased journalists, documenting their lives and showing us their perspective.

I spent like an hour looking at that site with my sister.

I was particularly interested in the Jerusalem part. My fiance lives in Israel so I've recently become very interested in the country and cultures. Kids use light and shadows in a way that adults don't normally even see. So it's neat to see the world from a new perspective. :]

I just did some research, and based on the fact there were lots of ladybugs nearby, I'm pretty sure now that they're ladybug eggs.

Just wait till I get some decent shots of their larva, they're scary looking things!
