...also found some larva about too, not knowing what they were until I just looked up the wikipedia article - tiny little evil looking caterpillar things.

Oh this shot is delightful. I love it, the strong vibrant green with the dash of red of the ladybird (that's what we Brits call them). The depth of field is brilliant to, the scale is thrown totally out of the window as there's nothing to compare them to. Lovely, 'tis going into my wallpapers folder

I wasn't quite satisfied with this, there was a blade of grass on the left there that'd unbalanced the composition (that odd lighter area), and on the tip of my mind I had thought of cropping it but... I dunno, I lost that thought somehow.
Now my problem is that I like the new 1:1 crop, but I dunno if I want to replace this version - and I wouldn't feel right submitting it as a totally new deviation either. Meditate on this I will.

And ya, about two years ago I was trimming my pine trees, and these absolutely horrid looking creatures were crawling all over the branches and myself. It wasn't until almost a year later that I stumbled across a picture of one and found out what they were. Since then, I treat them with great respect and kindness, since I know they won't bite me. :B They've returned every year since then to my pine trees to breed and develop from egg to adult. It's quite fascinating watching them in each stage. Interestingly enough, the pupal stage is even freakier than the larval stage. I'd say I get around ten to fifteen hundred of them over the course of the summer on my pine trees.

Everything about this is full to the brim with the notion of summer. The dazzling effect from the faded green, accentuates that delightful, warm-and-sunlit quality. And that spot of red, is just perfect. Like looking at nothing else but a dancing flame.
