Description
Ok I'm doing a mecha and now I'm stuck. Don't know which concept I should follow.Added a third version, which is B with fast done arms, just for the looks
So what do you guys think. A or B or C or get-rid-of-all.

The trianges mark the center of the joints, so its easier to move it later on.

ah, i suspected it was for that. That's a good idea i should probably try that next time i make something with joints or servos.

Thanks!
Shadowrun is not doing well. Don't get to play that often. Sad, sad...

Needs more guns. Also, B and C have a penis. I'd go for A!

Maybe I should leave the legs and body away...This would definitely flip the gun/robot ratio towards guns... And penis is no good. Absolutley!

Okay. Take the rotatable gun joint on the gun under the cab from B and put it on C. Then take the tank gun from A and put it on the side of the arm of C and give C hands (Looks like you did already.) That is my idea, do what you want with it personally I think they are all awesome.

I like B. I've alway preferred 'underslung' weapons to 'overslung'. Also, the hooks on the toes could be neat if flipped over, looking like claws to dig in for support.
Also, as an idea, A could be the 'plant and hold' mode of B, which could be the mobile mode. I don't think it would be hard, from an engineering standpoint, to design this mech in such a way that the weapons and drum shielding rotate to the back, then the whole armature up, as the mech crouches behind it's leg plates to lock down a contested area.

Disregard this. I totally didn't even look at the pic fully. A is awesome, completely what I was thinking until I ACTUALLY looked at the image and thought, 'Wow, I'm an ass...' XD

Glad you like it. And waht you said about the 'plant and hold' mode is exactly what I thought!

凄い('sugoi') is Japanese for 'awesome.' Technically it means 'frightening, inspiring of shock and awe,' but in modern usage it's come to mean any synonym of 'impressive.'
In a nutshell, he's just proclaiming how awesome your mech is.

Well, structurally, they're not all that different, are they? The arm ports are switching between manipulator arms and mobile autocannon turrets, and the that hip-joint plate can be switched for a gatling gun. So, why not just keep the main mecha body and keep all the designs as variants of a base model?

flaketom In reply to Felisfurtificus [2010-04-28 14:35:28 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, no real differences in the main body, but I'm too lazy to model all of the variants.

I'd go with Set B. Makes for a great combat model. Awesome design and well balanced.

B is the more 'active' design, having a more aggresive role, than the stationray one in A.

All so cool!
I like both modes of A the most. Conceptually, it has the most impact. Looks interesting as both a mech + a mobile defensive fortress due to the variable arm positions.
Jimi and Greylord make good points about optional weapon loads, but then it just becomes like any other mecha. A option is the most unique. The whole design leans towards that dual-mode concept.
Hey, are you using some of the same guns as on the anti-grav vehicle?
(I do also like how the crotch gatling gun fits into the shin shield slots in C and B). But A is king.

flaketom In reply to Rob-Cavanna [2010-04-28 14:46:50 +0000 UTC]
Thanks a lot for them comments. Always nice to get some feedback from you.
I started the concept with the idea of something like an mobile turret. but then I thought of giving it a more wider range of use. But haven't thought about optional weapon loads. That's really a nice idea. But then I don't know if I'll ever will model them. So I'll stick to the original idea first.
And yes lazy me used the main body of the anti grav gun for the right weapon. Well, maybe I'll do a new, but then maybe not.

Rob-Cavanna In reply to flaketom [2010-04-28 15:34:10 +0000 UTC]
It makes sense to have certain stock parts that you can reuse and repurpose. No harm there. Saves time. I probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been coloring that gun -zoomed in close.
Oh, and I realized something else about this design: you probably want to add a circular plate where the gatling gun barrels attach to the gun's front shield. This way, it looks like the barrels can't rotate, and they're just glued/growing into the beige area.

flaketom In reply to Rob-Cavanna [2010-04-28 18:32:58 +0000 UTC]
Ja, a circular plate makes sense.

ModalMechanica [2010-04-27 22:43:36 +0000 UTC]
A, makes more sense to have the guns on top, that way it can ark for an artillery effect, or be effective against aircraft. Having them on the bottom limits the mobility of the turret, and I really dont see this thing fighting up and close, (looks to slow)

flaketom In reply to ModalMechanica [2010-04-28 14:00:48 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, that's waht I thought as well, but I thought some sort of transformation would be nice if it goes from mobile to stationary mode.
Thanks for the comment.

Yeah well the best choice, would then just to have it be a modular system.
